Ping Air Marshal @gregbagwell. Fine that WSJ woke up to this discussion. We strongly support France but it is not enough. Europe needs UK and particularly the Royal Air Force as provider of sub-strategic nuclear deterrence to offset the Russia threat.

NEW: 🇱🇻 According to a new investigation by Latvian broadcaster LTV, Belarusian border guards are forcing migrants to sabotage Latvia’s border infrastructure if they cannot pay smugglers for illegal passage into the European Union. Those who refuse face physical violence or torture.
Migrants waiting in camps on the Belarusian side of the border are reportedly visited by uniformed personnel who check whether they have paid for their journey. Those who have not paid are sent into Latvia carrying metal saws and given precise instructions on what to damage, including surveillance cameras and electrical equipment. After carrying out the sabotage, they return to Belarus.
Latvian prosecutors say there are reasonable grounds to suspect that Belarusian border guard officials are involved in organising illegal migration and damaging infrastructure to facilitate criminal activity. Investigators believe migrants seeking to reach the EU could not have organised this operation themselves.
The scale of the problem is growing. Latvia has recorded more than 60 cases of border infrastructure damage this year, compared with 23 last year. More than 12,000 illegal border-crossing attempts have been prevented. Border guards have also faced stone-throwing incidents, threats and confrontations involving people helping migrants cross the border.
The smuggling route reportedly costs around $5,000 per person, often paid in cryptocurrency. Migrants travel through Russia to camps near the Belarusian border, where some wait for days or even months for an opportunity to cross into the EU.
Latvia has deployed between 100 and 200 soldiers daily to support border protection, while investigators are cooperating with Europol. Prosecutors have launched criminal proceedings over suspected plans to commit serious crimes against the Latvian state.

Suomalaisille on puhuttava turvallisuudesta rehellisesti.

SpaceX Blocked A U.S. And NATO Satellite to Assist a Russian Intercept After Crippling Ukraine's Air Defenses
The Math Proves the Reality that Musk doesn't want you to see.
On Oct 13-14, SpaceX restricted Starshield/Starlink during a 39-missile Russian attack, cutting Ukrainian drone intercepts by 23% and stranding U.S. personnel in Kyiv. Forty-eight hours later (Oct 15), SpaceX blocked U.S.-licensed NRO, Space Force, and NATO radar satellite ICEYE-X36 in orbit so Russia's COSMOS 2612 weapon could intercept it (99.89%-99.98% posterior)
Our Model Demonstrates that the Russian intercept of the US/NATO ICEYE X-36 satellite (contemporaneous with the throttling of Starlink) would not have been possible, and almost certainly not been attempted, without SpaceX resources. At a material opportunity cost, Russia sprinted its COSMOS satellite to intercept ICEYE X36. Based on a previous attempt in June during which X36 maneuvered to evade COSMOS, Russia knew that this would be successful only if X36 could not maneuver. On October 15, SpaceX fixed X36 in place by issuing a collision alert for a sub-kilometer approach with its Starlink 35856 when SpaceX's own data shows that the actual distance was 4.8-5.0x as great. SpaceX issued no warning to COSMOS despite the fact that its sprint was far more threatening than the stable X36 orbit. SpaceX did not maneuver its Starlink 35856 satellite to clear the supposed collision risk. How, absent coordination with SpaceX, could Russia have known that SpaceX would take actions that (a) misrepresented the danger posed by X36, and (b) resulted in the fixing of X36 thereby enabling COSMOS's successful intercept? Thus, SpaceX was directly involved in simultaneously compromising Ukraine’s defensive and offensive capabilities. The conjunction of these two events makes innocent explanations untenable.
The Pentagon Capture & Iran Round Two Trap: Pentagon CTO Emil Michael who cashed out $7M–$35M from Musk’s inner-circle SpaceX vehicles (M8/Gigafund 0.1 and M6/Valor M33 II) and KQ Partners / xAI (selling xAIfor $5M–$25M three days before taking over CDAO/OSCand 21 days before SpaceX bought xAI, while keeping M8, M6, M9, M10 & Nomadic open) and Pete Hegseth purged rival Anthropic in two hours, surrendered combat command over US drones used to attack Iran to Starlink’s "Terms of Service," and on October 2 named Musk Co-Director of Project Meridian to design the Pentagon's "Future of Warfighting" just as America enters Iran Round Twowith depleted Patriot/THAAD magazines and Russia feeding U.S. warship/aircraft locations to Tehran.
SpaceX’s actions in Ukraine raise serious questions about its alignment with US security interests and its reliability as a cornerstone of US defense. These questions are particularly troubling given the effectively irreplaceable position SpaceX has been granted by the Hegseth/Emil Michael Pentagon.

Russian operatives set fire to a Romanian arms factory a month ago states Romanian intelligence services.
Source #2 below.
BREAKING NEWS: Romania’s domestic intelligence service (SRI) and the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) attribute last month’s fire at the Carfil factory to an act of sabotage carried out by the Russian Federation.
Carfil Brașov is an arms manufacturing facility. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first case of sabotage publicly attributed to the Russian Federation in Romania.

Terrorussia strikes again civilian targets
Russian ballistic missiles struck the grounds of a university in Kyiv and the area around it – effectively the campus, Kyoto Park, the area near a metro station, and residential buildings. The exact number of casualties is not yet known. But tragically, there are victims. There are people injured. Rescue operations are underway. There is extensive damage, and there are also reports that people may be trapped under the rubble. All emergency services are at the scene and doing their work – saving lives. The missiles hit very crowded areas, and there is not a single military facility nearby. This was a strike directly on the city, on its infrastructure. Unfortunately, there may be more strikes coming. The attack with “shaheds” is also continuing – against Kyiv and our other cities and communities.
And it is precisely under such circumstances, when the threat is constant, when strikes can come at any moment and target cities and villages directly, that artificial delays in providing air defense to Ukraine help terror. It is important that political agreements be implemented promptly at the team level. It is important that our partners understand that Ukraine needs the proper tools to destroy Russian ballistic missile launchers. This would be the most effective way to save lives. It is important that the world sees that Russia is showing nothing but a desire to kill and continue waging war. Ukraine must not be left to face this alone, and it is solely Russia’s fault that the war is still going on and people are still dying. Please take care of yourselves. All partners should stand with Ukraine – with the protection of lives.

UPDATE: 🇷🇴 Following the discovery of a Russian intelligence-directed sabotage operation in Romania, authorities have strengthened security measures and patrols around defence-related industrial facilities, critical infrastructure, major transport routes and large logistics centres.
Romania’s Interior Ministry says all operational and logistical resources are mobilised, with security forces working alongside the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), DIICOT and military intelligence to identify and prevent further sabotage attempts.
The investigation involves three foreign nationals two Belarusian citizens and one Ukrainian linked to the sabotage network. Two were arrested in Germany while preparing similar acts, while the third was located in Poland.
According to Romanian intelligence, the network was coordinated from Russia and targeted military and industrial facilities in Romania and across the region.
Authorities are urging citizens and businesses to remain vigilant and report suspicious surveillance or suspicious packages near sensitive sites by calling 112.
BREAKING: 🇷🇴🇷🇺 Romania’s intelligence service (SRI) has uncovered a Russian intelligence-directed sabotage network involved in a fire at the Carfil military industrial platform in Brașov, Romania, on September 14.
According to the SRI, the network was coordinated from Russia and involved several citizens of former Soviet states living in EU countries. Judicial proceedings are underway in Romania and in cooperation with authorities in other European countries.
Investigators say Russian coordinators had assigned the network additional targets across the region, including arms factories and other military and industrial facilities. The SRI also identified other sabotage attempts in Romania this year, including at facilities used to train Ukrainian armed forces.
Romanian authorities say the operations aim to intimidate European countries, damage their defence capabilities and undermine regional security. The investigation is ongoing, with Romanian intelligence working alongside national agencies and European partners.

Shocking text. “We think it’s safer to wait for the Russians (...) Stay safe". That was the French ambassador in Kyiv, writing to the European ambassadors’ Signal group on 24 February 2022, as explosions were already going off in the city. Lots of EU States participated in this most important diplomatic, military and analytical blunder of this age). For 3 months Dutch intelligence kept telling Prime Minister Rutte that an invasion was “unlikely". The agencies relied on a "trusted source" near the Kremlin who turned out to know nothing, because Putin shared the plan with maybe 10 people. USA put the Russian attack plan on the table. Western EU dismissed it. 12 hours before the tanks crossed the border, Russian forces had already changed how they communicated. But the official Dutch assessment still said war was merely “possible". The head of Germany’s BND was asleep in a Kyiv hotel when bombing started. Fled in a panic. Kept his job.
