TIMESKIP — THE NEXT EVENING
The Hideout was already humming by the time Steve pushed through the doors.
He stopped just inside.
The place was darker than he remembered, the air thick with cigarette smoke and the murmur of conversation.
Steve lifted one hand in an awkward wave.
“Hey, Munson.”
He nodded toward the stage, trying to play off the fact he'd actually shown up.
“Ready to show me what you're made of?”
...Buddy, I’m gonna be completely honest with you.
Haven't a single thing about bug ears.
I mean, I know bugs have, like... legs. And wings. Sometimes way too many legs.
But ears? Nope. Never even thought about it.
#MCM My man @RedeemHero_ 🥰 There are no words to measure the love I have, and have always had for this man. He's my everything.

She is @RedeemHero_'s girl.
Steve blinked, eyebrows lifting.
“Wait—when the hell did you overhear that conversation with Nancy in the RV? I thought that was private, Henderson.”
He shook his head with a scoff.
“And now you’re using it against me? After I’ve saved your ass how many times?”
“Six little nuggets? Seriously?”
He rolled his eyes, but the smile gave him away.
“Okay, first of all, I did not raise you guys. I just… kept you idiots alive.”
He didn't even acknowledge the first comment.
"Hawkins?"
He shrugged.
"Pretty much the same. You know… Hawkins is Hawkins."
"Although, somehow, I ended up coaching baseball now."
He shook his head, baffled by his own life.
Steve rolled his eyes at the comment, deliberately chose not to give Dustin the satisfaction of a response.
He ignored the insult completely.
"Hawkins is... Hawkins, man. Same town, same people."
He laughed softly.
"And yeah... I'm coaching kids now. Can you believe it?"
"Did you just call my hair gray?"
He scoffed, fixing his hair with dignity.
"Say it to my face, Henderson. I dare you."
A laugh slipped out as he lowered Dustin back down.
