Replying to @elonmusk
@elonmusk on the hardest part of building Optimus:
"The fine motor skills are incredibly difficult to get right. Like shockingly difficult."
Signing your name, or driving a self-tapping screw into wood, takes precision and force at the same time. "There's no hand design that I've seen, not even sort of a demo that does that."
"But that's what we're trying to achieve with Optimus." @Tesla_Optimus

Want to know how the @Tesla Optimus factory under construction at Giga Texas is progressing? I’d say it is moving along at warp speed!
This facility is to manufacture up to 10M/year humanoid robots & will be over 7 million sq ft (~3,500 ft long) once completed including a substantial part of the factory using 4 floors! This factory is in addition to the pilot line at Fremont that has reportedly already begun small-scale production.
Right now, the main steel structure is ~55% assembled with a noticeable widening of the surrounding ground grading & reclamation of a large section of abandoned sand & gravel mining area on the E side of the new factory.
As I understand it, the target is to have the entire steel structure assembled with final topping ceremony held around the end of March 2027. This won’t be the end of construction as it will still need a lot more to complete the facility, install the production equipment & have utilities connected, particularly power, so massive construction work will continue throughout most of 2027.
The approach to construction of this factory differs significantly to the approach used for the main Giga Texas factory in that it will be substantially closed in before major equipment is installed.
There are also some ground level utilities, footings and final perimeter grade beam work underway, with the E side of the building now taking shape with what appears to be a large open section about 4 column grids wide along this side of the facility.
Per Tesla the goal will be to be able to begin some *very limited* production here sometime at the end of 2027 & then scale up production capability from there through 2028.
