This small creek wild brown #trout came out of nowhere and crushed a streamer. #flyfishing #Streamers
Every now and then I catch a surprise rainbow trout cruising in bass territory. I always throw a cast or two into this "hole" when walking by. It is only 2' deep at best and maybe 6' wide. A small pocket along the edge of a wide, shallow section of the creek. Caught on the deadly yellow popper. #fishing #flyfishing #trout #bass
I was walking along this overgrown bank and decided to cast over it to reach that tree in the water instead of crossing the creek upstream and getting a better angle. Lazy. Dumb. I hooked a nice smallmouth and quickly realized I had no good place to get to the water and net it. Then it got me tangled in a branch I wasn't paying attention to, so in I went. It was the nasty smelling river muck that you sink in like quicksand. Right under the branch was a 6ft drop off. I was wearing waders with my phone in my pocket. I lucked out this time. #fishing #flyfishing #bassfishing
I snapped another fly rod so I decided to bust out my old Fenwick fiberglass that my grandfather got me for my 1st birthday. The rod that started it all. I was rewarded with a YUGE smallmouth bass. #fishing #flyfishing #FishResult
Tied up some spotted lanternfly patterns to see if the highly pressured, selective trout in "The Narrows" at Fishing Creek would target the invasive species. #fishing #flyfishing #flytying
Brook trout caught in Fishing Creek near Lamar, PA #fishing #flyfishing
Crystal clear water, direct sun, weeds and tree limbs everywhere: I executed the perfect approach and presentation, and still came up short. 🤦♂️ #fishing #flyfishing
To me, this is the ultimate fly fishing experience. A difficult upstream cast, under the tree branch mid-stream, then between two more tree branches hanging in the water, to a beautiful brown trout sipping flies off the surface. The dry fly had to be gently dropped right in front of the trout's nose without spooking it, followed by an immediate hookset. No other angle or approach is possible. Pinpoint accuracy is a must. I'll take one opportunity like this over a 50 fish outing with nymphs any day! #fishing #flyfishing #fish
Dry fly fishing in Pennsylvania. You can always count on finding brown trout under submerged trees and logs. #fishing #flyfishing #fish
Almost 30 years ago I caught my first trout on a fly rod in this stream. It was a native brook trout half the size of this one. I remember setting the hook so hard the fish flew right over my shoulder on to the bank! I was hooked! #fishing #flyfishing
