Did you miss me, people?
Tonight, I’m back!
Joining @ReelsofCinema1 for our 3rd annual Nightmare on Elm Street episode.
Released #OTD in 1978 nationwide in the U.S.: the OG Halloween! 5 different timelines, including the underrated Michael-less Halloween 3 and the two Rob Zombie-directed remakes, but this is still my favorite. Stay tuned for ep 94 where @AndrewGrevas and I discuss the first two!

Ellie Cornell, in her interview for “Horror in Haddonfield”, on the physicality of her role:
“But for Halloween, there was no “Hey Ellie, by the way, you're going to be crawling around with Danielle on your back, sliding around, running, leaping over fences”. You just do it though and adrenaline helps. The part that I didn't do, which is probably no shock to anybody, was actually falling off the roof. That was a stunt double. But a lot of that was Danielle and I and it's cold out. Dwight was great about prepping us. It wasn't just like, ok, you guys, you're gonna run really fast down this foggy, dark alley. No, it was like, imagine that he's behind you and our job as performers is to tell the story. It's not that hard to imagine what it would be like. If that's the case, of course I would run up through the attic and climb out onto the roof. You would do what you had to do. So that's also helpful. It doesn't come from a fake place and to me it wasn't gratuitous action where it was these ridiculous fight scenes for no reason. I've done those too and those are fine. That's a different animal. But this to me comes from a really true place. I feel like our audience felt it. Horror movies took a different path after Halloween 4. After our film, the genre slowly got darker and darker and gorier and gorier, which is fine. But back in the day, you really had to tell the story in ways that the audience is going to understand and relate to. It's the relatability that I think made it work. I think that's why the character is likable and relatable, because you could relate being in charge of a child and there's this threat. Of course you're gonna climb out the roof and put them on your back. What else could I do?”

Born #OTD: the witty, often caustic #carriefisher, the OG Star Wars princess, later a general. A few photos of her w/ Mark Hamill, her (decades-old spoiler alert) onscreen twin brother ’Luke.’ For more on Star Wars, dust off ep 3 of Reels of Cinema at: open.spotify.com/episode/4gM…
#OTD in 1964, the Warner Bros. big budget film version of the smash hit Broadway musical #myfairlady premiered in NYC. At a butt-numbing 2 hours, 50 minutes, some may find it a chore to sit through, but who doesn’t love #AudreyHepburn ?
Born #OTD: the inimitable #BelaLugosi (1931’s #Dracula). He went on to play the shepherd #Ygor in 1939’s Son of Frankenstein and 1942’s Ghost of Frankenstein. But in 1909, the vampire played Christ in a stage production of The Passion Play in his native Hungary. (?!?!)
#OTD in 1985 in Dallas, TX, the first Blockbuster Video opened! Remember the agony of seeing empty shelf space behind the VHS box of that in-demand flick? Or the slogan, “Blockbuster Video - Wow! What a difference!” The company filed for bankruptcy in 2010. #blockbustervideo
