We don’t get to apologize to a species after the last one dies. On September 14, a U.S. rule took effect removing the Endangered Species Act’s regulatory definition of “harm.” That definition included habitat destruction that kills or injures protected wildlife. Think about what’s actually at stake. The forest where an animal finds food. The shelter where it sleeps. The place where it raises its young. Destroying those places can kill just as surely as a weapon. Other ESA protections remain. But conservation groups warn this change could leave endangered animals more exposed to habitat destruction. "AP reporting" (apnews.com/article/endangere…) That should matter to every one of us who has ever watched an animal and felt something. Mars brought us together. Through @marsprojectusa, we have a chance to turn that love into a voice for wildlife. The love cannot end when the video does. These animals have lives beyond our screens. They need somewhere to eat, somewhere to raise their babies, somewhere to EXIST. Please read the rule. Share the facts. Contact your representatives and ask them to restore protections against habitat destruction that kills endangered wildlife. Support organizations protecting those habitats. We have a voice while these decisions are being made. We have a chance to speak while there are still animals left to protect. Let’s use it. Conservation > extinction.
