Dear Governor, Just over 12 years ago, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County Sheriff’s Detective Michael Davis Jr. were brutally executed by Luis Bracamontes. Bracamontes was a convicted drug dealer in the midst of a crime spree with his girlfriend when he opened fire on Danny as he approached his vehicle. Bracamontes fled, carjacked several vehicles, shot a civilian before fatally shooting Detective Michael Davis Jr. with a rifle and seriously wounding Davis’ partner, Deputy Jeff Davis. I went to that crime scene and remember every detail vividly. I also remember watching Bracamontes laugh in court while their families, including Danny’s two young daughters, had to sit and watch. Bracamontes was convicted of murder by a jury of his peers, who then sentenced him to death. Deputy Danny Oliver and Detective Michael Davis Jr. should be alive today, enjoying long and healthy lives with their families. Instead, the man who murdered them has now escaped his sentence. Governor, I urge you to reconsider any proposal to commute the death sentences of all 548 people on death row, especially that of Luis Bracamontes. This isn’t just about the death penalty. It’s about accountability, honoring the decisions of juries, respecting the will of California voters, and standing with the families of victims who have already suffered unimaginable loss.

Thomas Massie lost his own primary months ago, and now in his last session he’s trying to impeach Trump’s Defense Secretary. That is not leadership. That is a sore loser with a grudge. Massie says he will reintroduce articles of impeachment against Pete Hegseth when Congress comes back next week unless Hegseth resigns. He filed eight articles in September accusing Hegseth of fighting the Iran war without approval from Congress and running military operations without authority. They never got a vote because Speaker Mike Johnson canceled the last voting day before the midterms. Massie already lost to a Trump-backed challenger in May, so come January he is gone. He is not fighting for Kentucky voters anymore. He is spending his leftover time and our tax dollars trying to take down a member of Trump’s own cabinet. Trump is not budging. He told reporters Hegseth is doing a very good job, and the Pentagon says Hegseth is 100% committed to staying through the end of Trump’s term. Democrats will have the gavel soon enough and will file all the impeachment articles they want. We do not need a RINO on his way out the door doing their work for them in the lame duck. Abbott lost less than a day ago. Houston City Council is already lining up to bring the anti-ICE ordinance back. On Wednesday, Council Member Hollins said the city's excuse for cooperating with ICE was that Abbott made them. "That is no longer the case." Council Member Alejandra Salinas wants her ordinance back in January, maybe sooner. That's the same one that limited how HPD works with ICE until Abbott threatened $114 million in grants and Mayor Whitmire pushed a repeal. Gina Hinojosa hasn't been sworn in yet. ICE Press Release: On Oct. 27, six ICE agents arrived at the Monterey County Jail in Salinas requesting custody transfer of three suspected criminal illegal aliens. What should have been a simple, routine operation quickly went sideways. The agents were there to recover Eduardo Castro-Lopez, also known as Jordan Eduardo Yac; Jose Luis Quinones, also known as Jose Manuel Garcia; and Angelina Ramirez-Sepulveda. The suspects have prior arrests for multiple offenses including DUI, drug offenses and providing false identification. The officers waited outside the jail and cordoned off the area with yellow tape to facilitate the targeted operation. A crowd of protesters began to form, and Monterey County Sheriff Tina M. Nieto opted to place the facility on lockdown. The lockdown lasted approximately three hours. During that period, new bookings and inmate releases were suspended, and public visitor doors were closed, though the jail continued regular operations and published an online custody log. “None of the suspects were turned over to ICE during the lockdown,” said ICE Assistant Director of Public Affairs Micah Bock. “A local county supervisor told the ICE officers that the sheriff would not release the inmates to them. It’s borderline obscene that a facility that’s there to protect the public would go on lockdown to protect criminal illegal aliens from the consequences of violating federal immigration law.” By the next day, the online custody log showed that Castro-Lopez had been released from custody and Quinones was no longer shown as being in custody. Ramirez-Sepulveda remained in custody. “Two of the individuals ICE sought were reportedly released from custody. This is where we are: Criminals are being protected in sanctuary cities and states, and a law enforcement facility is siding with CRIMINALS instead of cooperating with federal law enforcement," ICE posted on social media.

Abubakarr Barrie is an illegal alien who never should have been in this country, and a 15 year old girl in Baltimore paid the price. Police say he kidnapped her, took her to a basement and tried to kill her, and she fought her way out. Barrie, 23, from the West African country of Sierra Leone, now faces kidnapping and attempted first degree murder charges. DHS says he crossed the border illegally through Arizona in December 2023 and was released into the country under the Biden administration. Can you imagine what that poor girl went through? The part that makes my blood boil is that this didn't have to happen. DHS says New York police arrested Barrie in July and refused to honor an ICE detainer, which is a request to hold someone so immigration officers can pick him up. If New York had held him, he would have been in federal custody and on his way out of the country, not anywhere near that girl. ICE has now lodged a new detainer. As the parent of a teenage daughter, I just can't imagine the horror this girl and her family have had to endure. That young lady saved her own life, and I'm so thankful she got out. Sanctuary policies are supposed to protect communities, but here they protected a man with no right to be here and left a child to fight for her life. Because of this sanctuary judge’s actions, an American woman has suffered a horrific crime that NEVER should have happened. Marcotulio Melendez Diaz, a Honduran illegal alien, allegedly raped a woman inside her Minnesota home while working as a handyman. He now faces a first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge. He was released into the United States under the Biden administration in 2024, ICE arrested him, then a Clinton-appointed federal judge ordered him RELEASED.
