NEWS --> Dems planning novel ways to wield power of the purse against Trump's corrupt prosecutions of critics like Ilhan Omar if they win House. Reps Pramila Jayapal and Jamie Raskin tell me many aggressive tactics will be deployed.

While Republicans cut your healthcare & raise your costs, we’re fighting back to put your care first.
But we’re not just reversing the harm – we’re building something better.

Good news: Wilber Garces Perez finally had surgery to remove the bullet that was in his back for 11 days.
It took far too long, and it's more proof of ICE cruelty. But we kept up the pressure, and Wilber got the care he needed.
Speaking up for our neighbors works.
Lots of Republicans are saying they want to see the war in Iran end, but their votes don't match.
Despite coming up short, we want to offer sincere thanks to @RepJayapal for leading the latest bicameral war powers effort and all who voted for it. vist.ly/5jrzc
Jayapal on McConnell: How about we have term limits on members of Congress and upper age limits on members of Congress? Why do we allow people to stay until they literally have to be carried off the floor, until they disappear with paid leave that they won’t grant for anyone else in the country?

Yesterday, you heard me say we need oversight of AI. Well, today, I joined @RepJayapal for a shadow hearing on AI.
Investors are betting trillions of dollars on AI for one purpose: the possibility that it will someday replace humans… replace workers. But let’s be clear: AI needs US. WE do not need AI.
Working people need to be in the driver’s seat. We, the people, can decide rules and limits, civil rights and protections, and proper oversight and guardrails for AI.

Republicans hope that you blame immigrants instead of them.
RM @RepJayapal points out that Republicans are desperately blaming immigrants to distract from the fact that they have done nothing to make life more affordable for Americans.

Trump promised his Administration would target “the worst of the worst.” Instead, DHS has been going to schools, hospitals, and churches to terrorize American communities and sweep up people with no criminal record.
RM @RepJayapal criticizes the Trump Administration’s reckless immigration dragnet.
Thank you for your leadership, @RepJayapal.
Six months ago, Trump started an illegal war in Iran that has killed U.S. servicemembers and impacted the lives of millions of civilians. It’s meant BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars to war instead of your healthcare.
And Americans are paying the price at the gas pump, while the Trump family profits.
Last month, the House passed my bipartisan War Powers Resolution because the American people are sick of this war of choice. I will continue to do everything in my power to stand up to Trump and demand a stop to these forever wars.

Republicans gave you $110 billion over the last 2 years and you're still having meltdowns about Members of Congress demanding access to ICE facilities to conduct oversight?
Today, ICE provided a tour of our Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, to various House members, including Reps. Pramila Jayapal, Hank Johnson, Valerie Foushee, and others. The tour was scheduled for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The members arrived almost an hour early, yet ICE personnel were able to provide the requested tour, and further allowed additional time after the agreed-upon 90 minutes. Upon being asked to depart the facility around 2 p.m., the delegation indicated resistance to leaving the facility. Thanks to the calm and professional engagement of ICE personnel onsite, the delegation ultimately did leave, and moved to a separate Department of Justice facility located next to the Stewart facility, where they demanded to sit through a hearing in an immigration courtroom. The delegation remained onsite until about 3:45 p.m.
This is not the first time a congressional delegation has disrupted operations during an ICE facility visit. Despite these challenges, ICE continues to provide historic access to our facilities to members of Congress and their staff, with more than 330 such visits executed in Fiscal Year 2026 alone. In Fiscal Year 2024, that number was approximately 50. We will continue to provide this access so the American people can have a better understanding of our operations, facilities and personnel.
