Does anyone know when the Right to Know Ombudsman position will be filled? I believe the position has been vacant since July 2025.

I was working retail when Obamacare started. It mandated every large company would have to pay for health insurance for its full time workers. So I got my hours cut, and was told I could never work over time and didn’t get health insurance.

Someone has created a vulnerable PHP website, loaded it with a Bitcoin wallet, and challenged the Internet to hack into it and they can keep the Bitcoin. It has a running timer to show if the PHP exploitability was over-hyped. stealmybitcoin.com/

🧵I report for @NewHampJournal, New Hampshire's only right-of-center political news publication. I've covered @AndyBeshearKY, @ReverendWarnock, @MikieSherrill and @GavinNewsom, who happily answered my question.
And here's what it's like covering @KamalaHarris in New Hampshire

🇫🇷 France's protests are turning into something MUCH BIGGER than a weekend of unrest.
Huge crowds are flooding the streets over soaring living costs and concerns about democracy.
In Paris alone, police counted 110,000 demonstrators.
And the movement isn't winding down.
Protest organizers are already building toward a nationwide GENERAL STRIKE on November 5.
What started as street protests is becoming a sustained challenge to the French government.

People are using Claude Code and Codex to strip the spyware out of their smart TVs, and it's beautiful.
Jake Stevens removed all of Samsung's tracking from his TV with Codex.
His list of what he switched off reads like a confession the TV makers never meant to give: screenshots of your screen a few times a second to fingerprint what you're streaming, reading your HDMI inputs to do the same thing while you have a game console plugged in, and Bixby wake-word detectors.
He says the TV runs three times faster with the junk gone.
The tracking at the center of this is called automatic content recognition, or ACR. Texas AG Ken Paxton sued Sony, Samsung, LG, Hisense and TCL last December, alleging the software can capture screenshots of your TV display every 500 milliseconds and transmit that data back without your knowledge or consent. The companies then sell it to target ads.
A 2024 study found ACR works even when the smart TV is used as a dumb external display, meaning the game console or laptop you plug in over HDMI gets tracked too. You paid for a screen, and they shipped you a sensor that reports what you watch in your own living room.
Now AI is handing regular people the tools to rip it out. Own your stuff, verify it yourself, and don't trust anyone who profits from watching you.

Computed intelligence is this century’s oil — the most valuable commodity and the defining technology of our age.
States that push its factories out (data centers, power, talent) will end up as vassals of the states that host them.
I’m no prophet, but the pattern is already obvious.

Israeli fighter jets are flying close to Iran again now, after dozens did on Monday, keeping Iran on their toes before the actual attack begins
Also today, U.S. embassies told staff to leave with their families (as they did in March when the war started), and troops are leaving bases in Qatar, Jordan and Kuwait
I cannot believe I'm saying this, but unfortuantely, war seems imminent
It feels like I'm maxing out. I need a higher-bandwidth way to exchange information between my brain and the computer than my eyes, ears, fingers, and tongue allow.

Not just PHP. Node.js has also announced security releases for October 21, with HIGH-severity vulnerabilities affecting its 26.x, 24.x and 22.x release lines.
If you run either stack in production, keep an eye on official advisories and apply patches promptly.
Security maintenance doesn't stop at your application code. Your runtime matters too.

Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

My electricity bill for my primary residence was 24% higher in Oct. 2026 than it was in Oct. 2025. It's the same house with all the same appliances. This isn't what happens in an economy where the inflation rate is anywhere near 2%. That's just one bill. They're all going way up.
