Just 15 years or so ago, a Democrat being called a socialist was akin to calling them a slur. They rejected the title as a pejorative and denied having any socialist beliefs. Today, more Democratic candidates actively seek and celebrate endorsements from the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). The DSA openly advocates for a state takeover of private industries, defunding the police and abolishing core elements of the carceral system, heavy price controls and regulations, and sharply higher taxes. The Democratic Party’s left wing is gaining ground. Increasingly, mainstream Democrats feel pressure to accommodate or embrace these positions to avoid primary challenges from the left. But placating the socialists won’t work. The momentum is with those pushing more radical ideas - and it shows no signs of slowing. Colorado is not immune. Under Democratic control, the state has already shifted significantly to the left in recent years. DSA chapters here are now issuing voter guides and endorsing candidates in Democratic primaries. If we don’t change course, the trend will accelerate. If you’ve been sitting on the sidelines, now is the time to get off them. We’re almost at the point of no return in Colorado. #copolitics

Debate has begun on HB26-1281. This isn’t just about public safety; it’s about setting a precedent for how we respond to violent offenders who show a disregard for human life. Colorado House Republicans stand with victims whose voices have too often been ignored. Listen to @RepTyWinter's speech.

Today, @RepTyWinter's SB26-121 passed on Second Reading in the House! This bill is about striking a balance that gives workers the opportunity to earn more without crushing the farms and ranches they depend on. A 56-hour threshold is a fair approach because one-size-fits-all overtime mandates just don’t work in rural Colorado. We can protect workers and keep agriculture alive at the same time.

Hear more as @RepTyWinter explains how this amendment would have affected rural Colorado and the next generation of farmers and ranchers.
Failed on the House Floor: Rep. Garcia Sander's Budget Solution ⬇️ Rep. @GarciaSanderCO's amendment would have shifted dollars from a state employee tuition giveaway into NextGen Ag grants that actually train young producers in business skills, water and soil stewardship, and leadership. Colorado should invest in future ag leaders, not bigger bureaucrat benefits.

Failed on the House Floor: @RepTyWinter's Budget Solution ⬇️ The Next Chapter Veteran's Mental Health program is a relatively new program that has proven to be incredibly effective at preventing Veteran's from reaching a point of suicide. This amendment sought to bolster this program by $1M from shifting money out of the Office of New Americans and administrative lines
