My guess on the writing: Using a void melee readies soul siphon. Using soul siphon on enemies drains them, granting a void overshield based on the amount of enemies drained. It also kinda looks like it suppresses them, but that could just be visuals from the aspect itself. I reaaaally hope this counts as a melee ability so it can benefit exotics and mods. Can't wait to build around it!
Sandbox team hopped in a build to get you a little preview... Pardon the chop. Cleaner footage coming soon.

Every memory and every moment you've shared with us over the years has fueled our future. Every ounce of our June update is for you, and we hope you feel it as you continue to read through our insight articles and upcoming TWIDs, let alone when you're playing the update with us on June 9. We hope to keep building worlds to inspire friendship for years to come and truly couldn't do it without you and your voices. Again, thank you for being here and for sticking with us. All right, let's get to the goods. Don’t post on here often, but seeing all the news today really hurts. While I want to have a positive outlook, it’s really hard seeing something you supported for half your life and have over 10,000+ hours in just end. From searching Reddit and talking on the forums every day in D1 to truly igniting my passion for content creation in D2, this game has been a home for me. It has brought immense joy, happy tears, friends, community, anger (sometimes), and so much more. I can’t even describe how grateful I am for Destiny existing, and I don’t know where I would be today if it didn’t. “Just play another game” gets thrown around a lot, but no game even comes close to how Destiny felt for me. No other game has captured the feeling of a Destiny raid or dungeon (including day ones). No other game has made me care about stats and buildcrafting as much as Destiny has. No other game has given me a crazy sense of community as a player. I can go on and on because the list runs rampant, but what I’m trying to say is I don’t think any game will ever come close to what Destiny had. I hope someday there will be another, be it D3 or another game, and my passion gets reignited once again, but I just find it hard to believe that will happen. Never say never, though. Ultimately, I hope this is the right decision for the franchise, but with rumors of layoffs and D3 potentially not even being considered right now, I find it hard to believe it was the correct decision. This is one of those things where I really hope I eat my own words, but only time will tell. I know if you look deep in the post, the wording can be weird, and leaks have mentioned D3 being in early development, but I just don’t know, man. I wish we could have gotten some of the planned changes beforehand to see the reception towards them, and if positive, maybe D2 could’ve continued. Obviously, I’m not a developer or marketing analyst, so I don’t know if that was even possible, but man, if it was. Even so, franchise fatigue is still a real thing, and ending D2 for a D3 was probably the move anyway (assuming that ever even happens). It just sucks knowing that some stories that have been building up for years may never be answered. I’m all over the place right now. I’m sad it’s ending, frustrated how it happened, happy for the June update, and very emotional reminiscing on all the good times we had. Seeing all the responses and traction for the game today just makes me believe people want Destiny to succeed, but for some reason, it just can’t in today's world of gaming. I truly hope every Destiny player can find a new home in another game, and if the layoffs turn out to be real, I wish nothing but the best for every Bungie employee affected. You’ve shown you can make some of the best experiences in gaming, and I hope your amazing talents can be continued elsewhere. However, with the June update, I’m excited to give this one last ride. The update does look like a ton of fun, and I’m sure it will bring many tears in the process. Can’t wait to see the playerbase skyrocket one last time and go down memory lane, experiencing everything again. Here’s to a hopeful D1 Remaster, D2 Classic, or D3 in general. I don’t want this to be the last bit of fun I have with the franchise, but at least it will be a monumental (see what I did there) send-off for it. As they say, “all good things must come to an end.” “Don’t be sad it’s ending, just be happy it happened.” “It’s about the journey, not the destination.” “Remember the good times instead of focusing on the end.” “Every ending is a new beginning.” All of these have truth to them and really hit hard right now. Say what you want about Destiny, there have been a lot of ups and downs/makes or breaks, and maybe the writing was on the wall, but I think it’s undeniable that it will go down as one of the greatest and most influential games of all time. Turns out the real “Destiny killer” was itself all along. With this chapter closing, I want to thank Bungie, Destiny, and the community at large for all the amazing moments, journey, and home you provided for me and many others. You will forever be in our hearts and dearly missed. What a ride it has been. Eyes up, Guardian! ❤️
Read the full blog at bung.ie/d2_may_21_2026 For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.
