Trump said Tuesday he will approve federal compensation for people exposed to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune if Republicans win the midterm elections.
He then added, “if we don’t win there is no money.”

CONTEXT:
1. Congress passed bipartisan legislation to pay Lejeune victims 4+ years ago so who controls Congress has no role in the payments. It's the federal govt.
2. As of August less than 1% of 407,000 claims have been paid.

4. There is bipartisan legislation in Congress to speed up cases but it hasn't advanced. Federal judges are pushing for a settlement and the court date is next week: spectrumlocalnews.com/nc/cha…
5. The federal govt. estimates around a million people were exposed to toxic water at Lejeune from 1953-1987.
6. This is the second time this month Trump has threatened money in NC if Republicans don't win. He said the state wouldn't get Helene aid -- he said he was "kidding."

I received this statement from Lejeune toxic water victims and longtime advocates Mike Partain and Jerry Ensminger:
"Justice is not tied to political allegiance! The court trials start next week and will speak for us. Our service members and their families served the United States of America, not one political party or another.
Our allegiance is to the constitution we swore an oath to defend. Jerry and I have have seen allies throughout this fight join us from both sides of the political aisle."
