My report, “Small Force, Big Data: Defense AI and New Zealand,” is out: lnkd.in/d2ETbt8x. I explain that defense #ArtificialIntelligence isn’t optional - it’s the difference between sovereign capability & strategic irrelevance. Thanks @HeikoBorchert. #nzpol #NewZealand

9/ Perhaps we lack the intellectual apparatus to push these questions into public view – and, through that, make our leaders engage.

Trump considering US diesel export ban. I'm seeing quick calculations that it could take 20% of current global seaborne diesel supply from international trade prior to market responses. Strikes me this could be a pretty big and destabilizing developing.

Space weapons are extremely relevant for space-launch nations - including #NewZealand which, in 2025, was behind only the US & China in the number of satellites launched from it's territory (17; co-equal with Russia). #nzpol edition.cnn.com/2026/09/15/s…
Pleased to say I'm attending (and speaking on the 'AI, Cyber & the New Strategic Advantage' panel) at the @AspenInstitute New Zealand Security Forum in Queenstown on 16 October. Looks like an excellent - and forthright - line-up of speakers. #nzpol #NewZealand. Event link👇
