God invades our hearts and draws near to us when he knows it is a favourable moment.
For myself I thank God that he drew near to me in my teens. I was a pretty unpleasant 15 year old. But think how unpleasant I’d be today if he hadn’t drawn near to me.
Learn to do right;
seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless.
Isaiah 1:17
Nowhere is the call to repentance & faith made as clear as in Isaiah. Nowhere is the central message of the coming of Christ, so wonderfully foreshadowed.
Although I believe it is God’s will for you and for me to live the very fullest lives of fruitfulness on earth, yet it is always true that by far the greater part of God’s blessing and purposes for us lie in the future, beyond death, in the life of the world to come.

"You have to have a generation of people raised up to proclaim the Gospel, but you also have to have a generation who are prepared to support the Gospel to a sacrificial extent."
👆🏻We are so thankful for those this is true of. Let's pray for more! 🙏🏻

Realise that it’s the greatest privilege in the world just to speak a word for Jesus Christ. And there will be fruit.

Yes. I used to listen to Dick Lucas and Martyn Lloyd-Jones in the 1990s.

Do you listen to any other preachers when preparing sermons? If so, who? #asktk

St Helen’s Bishopgate was reputedly founded by Constantine the Great, & is dedicated to his mother. St Edmund’s body (again, reputedly) was hidden here to keep it safe from the Danes. In 1204 it became the parish church for a Benedictine nunnery.
Once you’ve tasted the good things of Christ you can never be happy again to wander away into the ways of the world.
