🇿🇼At some point, we will ALL have to do more than vent & post our indignation on X & Facebook. Change ONLY comes from organising & mobilising. As our fathers did for us, we will have to offer ourselves to confront & disrupt this terrible system of governance for our own children.

#LetFreedomSing If you want to really prophecy, tell us the number of data centres , factories , value addition plants ,and new jobs that the economy will have created by 2028 . Be specific about the sectors too . You cannot detain whole nations about death predictions without giving life projections . We cannot do anything about death, but we have a responsibility to those living now and posterity. Speak to our hopes ,desires , and visions ....Not just people's fears and failures!

The first Black Lawyer in Southern Africa, Alfred Mangena (1879 - 1924). Mangena was born in Escort in present day KZN, around 1879. He traveled to England to further his studies around the early 1900s. After completing his matriculation, he studied law at Lincoln's Inn London. It was while studying law that the Bambata Rebellion of 1906 occurred in Natal. Mangena submitted two petitions to the British government on behalf of Bambata’s men who were facing court martial in Natal. He went further by initiating a political and court case in London against the Governor of Natal for having proclaimed martial law in the province which Mangena considered illegal and unconstitutional. When he was attacked by a representative of the Natal government in London, he vindicated himself by suing for libel. After being called to the Bar in 1909 as a member of the Lincoln's Inn, he returned home in 1910 as the first Black Lawyer. Just two years later in 1912, he became a founding member of the South African Native National Congress (SANNC). In 1916, he formed a legal partnership with Pixley Ka Seme, the second Black Lawyer in South Africa. He died of a heart attack in 1924 at the age of 45. Source: Pzacad /Saho

JUST IN: Residents in Chitungwiza have taken legal action by suing their local authority over the perennial sewage crisis and demanding implementation of a comprehensive plan to end the raw sewage pollution.
@chitrest2020 and some dwellers namely Langton Nyakudya, Michael Kuvheya, Fred Farai Nyakudanga, Innocent Gondora, Phillipa Kawamba, Muchaneta Chimuka, Angela Chefu and Ruramai Chipengo on 23 July 2026 filed an application at Harare High Court seeking an order to compel Chitungwiza Municipality to halt the ongoing sewage crisis that has plagued the community for several decades.
CHITREST and the Chitungwiza residents, who are represented by @kelvinvada and @TinasheChinox of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, narrated that sewage flows directly into their houses while the putrid and bad odour from raw sewage has been causing serious discomfort to them and thereby endangering them and exposing them to some water-borne diseases.
According to the residents, domestic boreholes have become contaminated with raw sewage which flows freely into their houses while entrance and exit points at some schools have been closed due to raw sewage which flows in their vicinity.
The existing sewerage infrastructure, the residents argued, is currently being overwhelmed by wastewater as it was not designed or maintained to accommodate the substantial residential and commercial development that has occurred within the municipality without a commensurate upgrade to the existing sewerage infrastructure.
CHITREST and the residents protested that it was disconcerting that notwithstanding the perennial existence of the dangerous situation, the local authority had not taken adequate measures to repair and refurbish the sewerage system with the 25 wards in Chitungwiza.
They argued that the repeated failure by Chitungwiza Municipality to address the long standing problem of poor sewage infrastructure, sewage treatment, burst sewer pipes and disposal, amounts to a violation of the right to live in an environment which is not harmful to health or well being and offends against various constitutional rights and laws and violates the residents’ right to a safe and healthy environment guaranteed in Section 73 of the Constitution, the right to human dignity provided in section 51 of the Constitution and the right to life guaranteed in Section 48 of the Constitution including several domestic laws such as the Urban Councils Act, the Environmental Management Act and the Public Health Act among other laws.
The residents contends that according to the provisions of Section 168 of the Urban Councils Act, Chitungwiza Municipality has a legal obligation to take the necessary measures for the collection, conveyance, treatment and disposal of sewage.
The residents want the High Court to order Chitungwiza Municipality to upgrade and repair the sewer system within its jurisdiction to ensure proper discharge and treatment of effluent within three months of the granting of the court order and for the local authority to prepare and publish an emergency plan to effect short, medium and long-term sewage infrastructure repairs, maintenance and upgrades within one month of the granting of the court order.
CHITREST and the residents also want the High Court to declare that Chitungwiza Municipality’s failure to put in place adequate measures for the collection, conveyance, treatment and disposal of raw sewage in Chitungwiza to be in breach of Section 48 of the Constitution, Section 51 of the Constitution and Section 73(1) of the Constitution and also Section 168 of the Urban Councils Act, Section 4 of the Environmental Management Agency Act, Section 32(1) of the Public Health Act and section 103(1) of the Public Health Act.
EMA, the residents said, should monitor Chitungwiza Municipality’s compliance with preparing and publishing the local authority’s emergency plan to effect short, medium and long-term sewage infrastructure repairs, maintenance and upgrades.
The matter is yet to be set down for a hearing at the High Court.

20 years ago, Beatrice Mtetwa and Tawanda Nyambirai founded a law firm to "fight for the weak, fight for the poor, stand for human rights". Here's a snippet of our 20th Anniversary Celebrations -- where you might catch a glipse of the #BabaYilwaChallenge! 💃🕺🔥 I am so grateful to have become a part of the story of this wonderful group of people who have fought for justice for two decades. As the song prays, may God protect us and fight for us in the spiritual battles we can't see. Here's to the next 20 years and beyond! 🥂

Cruel to his Brother.
Cruel to his children.
Cruel to his wife.
Cruel to his mistress.
What is it?
Sadism?
Crazy, but many underdeveloped men watching,
Want to be like Jonas,
Thankfully,
ALL women watching,
Want to be neither Joyce nor Matipa.
And that's what will tip the cup over.
So proud of Sue Nyathi,
Proud of the filmmakers,
Oh what a revolutionary story,
Cycles of abuse will be broken from people watching this.
One of the best ever literary depictions,
Of how emotional abuse,
& Particularly cheating,
Is serious violence.
Many cheaters beat themselves on the chest about how they have never laid a hand on a woman,
They don't consider themselves violent partners,
But thanks to this film,
Nobody can claim,
What Jonas is perpetrating,
Is not violence.
Without taking anything away from the filmmakers,
Of whom I am on awe for producing this masterpiece,
I must mention Sue Nyathi again,
Literary genius,
That she is.
I stan!
