After a round of widespread snow across Alberta and the first major snowfall event of the season for the northern Prairies, more flakes are forecast to fly this week.
This will be the first snowfall of the season for many, including all of southern Saskatchewan.

Keep those outdoor plans for most of this week across the Prairies. 2 noteworthy items: 1) much cooler air, strong wind & rain mixing over to snow returns to AB on Friday into Saturday. 2) Eastern Sask & much of Manitoba to get temps more in line with late summer than mid fall.

A blast of cold air could bring a rain-snow mix to parts of southern Ontario by Friday night.

Tuesday October 13th felt very much like a summer's day with temps soaring into the upper 20s & even 30°C in southern/southwestern Ontario breaking some longstanding daily records. Today is not as warm & Saturday's high in #Toronto will be the coolest since April 20.

A great winter paradox will set up this winter as our very strong El Niño interacts with the polar vortex.

It's a tale of two forecasts across Canada for early October. A recurving typhoon in the Pacific is set to influence Canada's weather, bringing warmth to some, and a chill to others. ow.ly/w14J50ZUcjt

Our nor’easter has begun to make itself known.
HWY 12 in Pea Island, North Carolina has been damaged by major coastal erosion, and the northbound lane has been washed out.
Just the start of a furious Atlantic Ocean.
💧Disasters involving too much or too little water – floods and droughts – struck every region of the world in 2025, the @WMO State of Global Water Resources report shows.
Asia and Africa saw the most extreme events.

The fall equinox is next week and folks across the country may already be noticing a significant decrease in daytime hours. The Weather Network's meteorologist Kevin Mackay shares three things you'll want to know as we head deeper into the fall season.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo, New York oversees marine forecasts for the entire U.S. side of what, since 1641, has been known as Lake Ontario.
But the National Weather Service can't say "Lake Ontario" anymore – per President Trump's Executive Order 14422, it's Lake America or nothing.
Today, the Buffalo office got a bit... creative... in referring to "our eastern Great Lake."
No directives were broken. The lake was never named.
