BREAKING: Donald Trump has just painted himself in a corner. If he declassified top secret nuclear documents, he’s a national security threat. If he lied, then he committed obstruction of justice. Trump is f*cked.

Having covered the devastation of the Japan and Indian Ocean tsunamis, I would rather die in my car trying to escape than climb into one of these capsules.

I've meaning to write a "COVID endgame" thread for a while and I apologize this is somewhat delayed compared to media interviews like science.org/content/article/… and statnews.com/2021/09/20/wint… and to recent seminars like youtube.com/watch?v=VErVD_H1…. 1/17

Oregon viewed fewer hospital rooms as a good thing, building a model healthcare system with the fewest licensed beds per capita in the nation. Now as the Delta variant sweeps unvaccinated rural areas, the state is desperate for more. google.com/amp/s/www.latimes…

Tonight I helplessly held the hand of and stroked the hair of a beautiful 14 year old girl as she exited this world. She was looking forward to starting high school and eventually becoming a veterinarian. It was so senseless! I truly believe she could have been saved if her

Today, @RichReadReports of the @latimes reported on the high #COVID19 vaccination rates among American Indian and Alaska Native communities: latimes.com/world-nation/sto…. Getting vaccinated is the most important thing we can do to protect ourselves and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Sometimes, it turns out, a fish does need a bicycle - or rather, a ride on a truck, as I learned following sockeye salmon on a journey around a dam and across Idaho. The question is whether the endangered fish can be saved. latimes.com/world-nation/sto…

Hey, check out my foray into audio, hear bald eagles screech as I describe life behind a virtual Iron Curtain on Point Roberts, a crazy patch in our national quilt. @GustavoArellano gave me a turn at the mic, and @LinshannonLin magically produced the show.tinyurl.com/d6ezbek8

The old saw "You can't get there from here" is actually true for residents of Point Roberts, Wash., trapped on a Canadian peninsula behind the U.S.-Canada border closure. Now their tiny patch of land is about to become a food desert. tinyurl.com/xe2jppum

An insightful story by @hbernton. Hal and I were writing six months ago about the split between Portland anarchists and the social justice movement that WaPo described today. bit.ly/2R8rvfl – at Seattle, WA

Long before Ethan Nordean led the Proud Boys march on the Capitol, he washed dishes at his father’s restaurant. Some residents of their Puget Sound community objected to his extremism. “Silence is part of what brought Hitler to power,” one resident warned.lat.ms/3wdj2pZ – at Seattle, WA
