Saw him in an episode of ITV's Sherlock Holmes last night, and have been listening to him reading 'The Ultimate Foe' novelisation. What an actor, with such a huge range. Love him. met him once and he made a brilliantly catty remark about David Jason.
#BOTD Michael Jayston, star of shows like The Power Game, Ladykillers, Doctor Who and The Wednesday Play, for which he won a BAFTA. Famously he was Guillam in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and he was also considered for Bond, eventually getting to play him on Radio 4.

wonderful writing and performances
Drama about the deep and quiet pain of everyday life used to be everywhere on television. Not so much now. I miss it.

I can't help believing this is all nonsense, and there is a list of actors we know nothing about
Jack Lowden, Callum Turner and Josh O’Connor are among the actors in the mix to be the next James Bond. They are currently doing final auditions. (Source: Deadline)

I honestly don't think he's mentally unwell, in the main sense of it, nor do I think he has dementia. He's just what he's always been - a crass, tasteless fool with no self-awareness and no sense of humour

Reform UK are apparently going to send out an 8 page flyer to £15 million homes. Not that I'm suggesting that you send them back, so they have to pay for the return postage. But if you are, you might find this useful.

One of the greatest films ever made, it actually really is
God I love this whole sequence. After Kirk stumbled into a trap he just couldn’t see he and Spock absolutely Lock In, speaking almost in shorthand, just fumbling their way expertly to the solution, with James Horner’s score lightly prodding them on

A brief throwaway movie line that I think about all the time in Congress and the U.S. government, delivered by Captain Kirk in Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan- “You have to learn why things work on a Starship.”

Do this for comedy, in fact, do it for all telly. Stop trying to make everything look like a film.
The studio sitcom isn't dated - it's been withdrawn from sale. Audiences still love narrative comedy played to a live room, so why have broadcasters stopped making it? We present the case for bringing the studio audience sitcom back. comedy.co.uk/tv/features/stu…

38 YEARS AGO: It wasn't all golden days at Amstrad. In 1988, after the amazing of success of the IBM-compatible PC1512, we launched our next generation PC - the 2000 series. It turned out a disaster because our component suppliers, Seagate and Western Digital, shipped us faulty hard-disk units. Yes we eventually sued them and got £millions in compensation but the reputational damage was done. Read part of the tale in my autobiography here 👉amstrad.com/product/pc2000-s…. For the full story, including a complete miscarriage of justice at Orange County court, you'll have to get the book. As I summed it up: "That’s the American judicial system for you. You can understand why someone like O. J. Simpson got off scot-free."
