Last night will undoubtedly be a game that will never be forgotten, but amid everything surrounding it, it was still an incredibly proud night for two players in particular. Liam Kitching and Joel Bagan both made their senior international debuts for Ireland. Kitching’s first-ever Ireland call-up ended with him starting, playing the full 90 minutes and helping Ireland to a 3-0 victory. He was excellent on the left of the back three, with his physical presence and composure standing out in a brilliant debut performance. For Joel Bagan, it was a moment that had been a long time coming. After representing Ireland at U21 level and enjoying a strong start to the season with Cardiff City, he came off the bench for the final couple of minutes to finally earn his first senior cap. They will probably be among the least-talked-about stories from last night, and you can only imagine how difficult it has been coming into the senior setup for the first time with everything currently surrounding Irish football. Nevertheless, it was a hugely proud night for both men and one they will never forget.
