My grad school research 8 years ago was exploring exactly this topic!! What would school lessons look like in a future where AR is easily accessible to classrooms? It's beyond cool to see that @specs makes AR lessons like this a legitimate possibility now ✨
Being a kid (or a parent) in the age of @specs 🧑‍🔬 Made with @OpenAI Astra + Lens Studio.

Same interaction, but much much worse spatial and hand tracking (we had to use ARuco to anchor virtual objects to the real ones) xitter.gq/RickyMakesGames/status…
Having all of the atoms strewn about the work area to start is messy, so here's a spawn menu to create/clean up atoms. @YujinAriza helped with integration while I was traveling over the weekend

This is the behemoth of a headset we had to use to achieve the same type of hands-on AR back then lol A tethered Oculus Rift frankensteined with both a ZED mini for passthrough and Leap Motion for the hand tracking Now we can achieve better results with a pair of glasses 😎

Also another huge nitpick but characters don't feel visually consistent to each other when it comes to realism vs stylized?? I thought this was maybe just a gameplay vs cutscene thing but last pic really shows the difference between Link's details vs the couple's...

I'll agree that the stuff in the later part of the trailer looks MUCH better than the gameplay demo they showed the majority of the showcase But I'll die on the hill that this realistic look is still a miss overall
Nevermind this looks INCREDIBLE. Why didnt they start with the overview trailer??? Shows off the variety, color and lighting way better. The whimsical animations of link and the enemies make a lot of difference in making this feel properly zelda.

Trying to not be all "different = bad" but this realistic detail-obsessed art direction for the OOT remake feels like genuine whiplash I straight up thought this was another one of those "ZELDA IN UNREAL ENGINE" fan remakes when I first saw these

Link looks like an uncanny plastic knockoff of himself, I genuinely hate it

Got laid off from Meta this morning 🤷‍♂️ Woke up "late" at 5:30am and had already lost internal access since the email came at 4. Gonna spend some time working on personal projects and enjoying my summer, but if you're looking for a gameplay programmer/tech artist hit me up! 🔧

If this pop-off is cause for disqualification, then something is enormously wrong with the Pokemon judges
After a long loser's bracket run, @Firestar73_ wins a decisive game 5 to win the Orlando Regional Championship. Allegedly this celebration was unsportsmanlike, resulting in a game loss and giving NTC The win. I'm at a loss for words, I feel so bad for firestar.

I'm by no means a Niantic defender but NewsForce saying "players had no idea and weren't compensated!" is a pretty sensationalist way of framing this. AR scan quests have always been very obvious, opt-in, *and* rewarded in-game. It is very easy (and common) to skip.
POKÉMON GO PLAYERS TRAINED 30 BILLION IMAGE AI MAP Niantic says photos and scans collected through Pokémon Go and its AR apps have produced a massive dataset of more than 30 billion real-world images. The company is now using that data to power visual navigation for delivery robots, letting them identify exact locations on city streets without relying on GPS. Source: NewsForce

I genuinely do not think that anyone that has continued playing this game is surprised by this. If anything it's been a long-standing pain point for hardcore players that Niantic *always* prioritized AR + data collection over the quality of the game itself.

Whether or not in-game items/currency is a fair trade for real-world data to build a training model from is very subjective, and totally valid if you think it's not But saying Niantic "tricked" its players feels bad faith for how vocal they've pretty much always been about it 🤷‍♂️

I 0-2'd 🥴 My worst tourney performance in my career, but having taken a break from Go for a month before Worlds I can't be surprised I played abysmally. Skill issue feels bad but my opps played well so creds to them too! Will come back strong next year 😤

Pokémon go is so interesting, to me it just looks like fast tapping on the screen but considering how dominant these players are results wise there’s obvs something I’m missing. I just don’t know what.
