Will be interesting to see how this goes
I still think the best way to curb play/draw disparity is with card design (better 3 cost units, 2 cost units that can pay 1 to do something, comeback mechanics), but this isn't a bad change
Much better than taking away the go 1st draw
The Radiance Standard Challenge side event at #RCStuttgart will be testing a new 'Start of Game' rule where the player going second will draw an additional card after channelling their runes on the first turn.
What do you think about this new 'Start of Game' rule?
Shoutout to @JibbsUK for spotting it!

Here is the list I have been trying with him. It actually feels very strong. You can sometimes just put down some absurd numbers early/mid game and might-bully the opponent out of the game. The sideboard needs work
The more I play with this guy, the more I'm seeing value in him
Most of the time, the threat of playing him is gonna be better than actually playing him. Counters for him are everywhere, and getting hit by star crossed or not so fast or trading with zhonyas is awful
However...
I think the hand-check potential he brings to the table may make him worth it, despite the big risks he also brings
I am currently testing 3 different builds of Mordekaiser
The Decree build and the discard build are what I'm liking. The Herald build is just so bricky with so many dead cards. Your early/mid game just blows with that version
Mordekaiser is so fun and so sick, but I'm really surprised with how little he got from Radiance
You would think that more cards from his debut set would go in his deck, but no not really. It's just Trif Captain, maybe Tracker, and his sig spell. That's all he got

Heron is not the issue
The issue is heron + zhonya + star crossed + stranger + stellacorn + defy + discipline + riven + holy shit this deck's average card quality is just so much better than everything else besides a handful of other decks
real talk if riven does end up being too good, the solution is to probably ban the chosen champ alongside stellacorn and star crossed, because those two should go anyway
purple riven is perfectly fine and is a pretty good card
Some things I have learned from early testing:
The purple matchups are almost as bad as I expected, but they are not unwinnable
Death grip is probably our best answer and is absolutely goated
Forerunner probably moving to side or getting cut
Chompers is amazing with warrens
It seems like we still do not have enough good discard outlets. warrens really only triggers like 2 or 3 times per game, and often the first time won't give you chompers value, so really only like 1 or 2 times
