Ring Takes

I know it’s easy to shit on #WWE creative, and most times it’s deserved. But every once in a while, they get something right. I think a lot of people are so caught up in their opinions of Danhausen’s character and Gunther’s booking following John Cena that they’re missing the nuances of the story being told between those two and Finn Bálor. Think of it like high school. Gunther is the school bully. Danhausen is the nerd who constantly gets picked on and pushed around. Finn is the loner who just wants to keep his head down and stay out of everyone’s business. But when he finally steps up to defend the school geek, he gets his ass kicked for it. Eventually, though, the loner has had enough. He stops taking the abuse, stands up to the bully, and finally puts him on his ass. It’s a classic storytelling trope, and honestly, I think it’s gone right over a lot of people’s heads, as they’re caught up in the MiniHausens or the Halloween motif, and are completely missing the bigger picture. #SmackDown
