What is the Rio Grande Plan?

Another day, another blocked crossing in Utah's capitol city. #BuryTheRails #RioGrandePlan
A tale of two undergrounds:
The Roosevelt Boulevard Subway started as a grassroots effort and is now a hugely popular transit idea. Showing up on the SEPTA accelerate vision plan
The Rio Grande Plan is also highly popular, and was added to WFRC's 2027 draft projects list
Two hours of blocked crossings and broken pedestrian bridge elevators. We can improve this #utpol #burytherails

Happy Birthday to the Rio Grande Depot! You're looking good at 116 years old.
We are incredibly fortunate to have this building not only preserved, but upgraded for seismic resilience. It’s ready to be a train station again - for not just Salt Lake City, but all of Utah!
Having these downtown crossings blocked for over an hour is unacceptable. We need to push for better and #burytherails
Double whammy today as a 107-car, mile long UP freight train was waiting on this train and another local train to continue north. This had it blocking 800 South and 900 South, and with that the 9-Line also for over an hour. #BuryTheRails
You’ve heard about the WEConnect decision not to advance the Rio Grande Plan as a solution to the west-east divide. In August they will be having two block parties to show their preferred solutions and show progress on the study. Join us!
Blocked crossings will only continue to get worse as more freight traffic comes through Salt Lake City!
There is s solution though!

Last night the northside crossings of 300 North, 400 North, and 600 West were blocked for over an hour by a stopped UP freight train. The train also blocked the crossings at 800 West, 900 West, and 1000 West for about 20 minutes. #BuryTheRails
A good start. We must keep going until crossings are fully eliminated
We agree Governor! Let's give Utah a great central station that would rival those nice ones in Switzerland 😉
Build the Rio Grande Plan!
Utah is proud to be the North American home of Stadler Rail, and today in Bussnang, we had the chance to see that partnership from the other side of the world.
Stadler brought its Swiss apprenticeship model to Utah in 2019, and it has helped show what is possible when education and industry work side by side.
Thanks to Car Free Keith for featuring us in your latest video on how Utah public transit punches above its weight. And even more great projects to come! youtube.com/watch?v=q_JkMeEL…
Thank you @TransitTangent for having us on your podcast! We are hopeful the city and state will make the right choices in the end. There is simply TOO MUCH support for it to be ignored! youtube.com/watch?v=YUg3u-Fk…
UTA and UDOT hope to eventually grade separate FrontRunner along the entire Wasatch front. Crossings like 900 S will be nearly impossible to fix without the Rio Grande Plan. Read today's information series update!
Continuing our information series. Today's topic: what is the cost of NOT building the Rio Grande Plan? It's higher than you might think!
Welcome to the Rio Grande Plan information series! Starting off with the economic benefits. A big project with even bigger returns ($12B+) for the state economy

The Rio Grande Plan needs your help! The historic train station may be sold to the University of Utah before SLC's federal study for the Plan, which features the Rio Grande Depot, completes. #slc #utah #transit Plan youtu.be/F-DQ0hh_eXE
