I’m very suspicious of all these timed announcements during the election purdah period. A week before the elections & the Electoral Commission suddenly announce an investigation, when it could unfairly influence those elections. Should have been done weeks ago, or waited a week.

Disappointing to see Keir misrepresent sentencing policy like this. The *average* sentence for rape is 9 years 9 months and the maximum is Life. Our reforms will mean longer prison terms for sex offenders but Labour is voting against them.
Attacking a statue = 10 years in prison
Rape sentences = 5 years in prison
Nothing on outlawing street harassment.
Labour won't support the Conservatives' Bill which doesn’t tackle violence against women and girls.
