Democrats will stop the semi-annual time change and will remain in power for decades because of immense popularity of never having to change clocks!

It is imperative the GOP wins back the Texas governorship next go around. Forget redistricting...how about four new states. "This resolution, which stipulated that Texas could, in the future, choose to divide itself into "New States of convenient size not exceeding four in number, in addition to said State of Texas" is often a cause of confusion about the state's ability to secede. But the language of the resolution is clear: Texas can split itself into five new states. It says nothing of splitting apart from the United States." Houston Public Radio

An Open Letter to @BishopBarron Your Excellency: Please see Ezra Klein's sentence below. There is no and should be no religious left. There is, simply, the Truth. I'm dismayed that many of your fellow bishops and the @USCCB spent so much effort and time opposing the Trump Administration's policies that they lost sight of the fact that religion, as practiced by American Catholics, is increasingly malleable. Certainly, the first test of Christianity is loving Christ and loving our neighbors. We fail that test if we stay silent or only give lip service on the atrocity of a million unborn babies killed each year in the US. From this evil of toxic empathy flows every other ill in our society. Fix it, and then care for immigrants, care for the environment, and other graces will flow from Americans' empathy and generosity. How can we expect citizens to care to curb corporate greed, racism, crime, poor inner-city education systems, our land and water, or feed and house the poor if the base line is killing a million babies is acceptable. I hope and pray that you and Word on Fire Institute will lead a domestic church-wide examination of conscience. It will require prelates to exercise tough love and, honestly, be political. Defending the Faith starts there. Paraphrasing Isiah 6:8, if you need help "Here I am. Send me." Rob Sisson, K.M. Montana, USA
One of the more exciting parts of this election - among many - is the return of a religious left.

In 2006, I left a banking career to get “into the Arena”. My twin sons, then 10 years old, and their future were my motivation. Meet my first grandchild, now 7 weeks old. He is now my motivation to stay in the Arena.

There are some political truisms... 1. It's the economy, stupid. 2. Listen to voters at their kitchen table, not boardroom tables. 3. Candidate quality matters. The third point underscores just how pissed voters were (are). The Dems ran some abjectly horrible candidates and still won those races!
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up. So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us." Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026. There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true. But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were: 1) End the war 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation 3) Put America First 4) Change our relationship to Israel Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.) In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you. The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there. I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

The current CR expires on Dec. 11. That means the Republican majority in Congress has til then to pass omnibus packages of legislation. Democrats will hold a new CR hostage in exchange for weakening or wholesale changes to legislation after that date. And if the GOP Senate has any common sense, it will formally adjourn for one week between now and then to permit the White House to use recess appointments to fill out the government for the next two years. I'm an eternal optimist. I remember 1982 when President Reagan was rebuked in the mid-term. His policies hadn't had a chance to make a difference for working Americans. Similarly, I think @potus' policies will begin returning big dividends for America before November 2028. If I was a Republican on the national stage right now, one policy area where I would reach across the aisle and try to make a difference is healthcare/health insurance. Coupled with that is the cresting wave of elder care...the crippling toll on families, particularly as they try to care for aging parents with dementia. Politicians have to address what is being discussed at kitchen tables, not boardroom tables. @NRSC @HouseGOP @WhiteHouse

I was interviewed by a reporter yesterday (not about the election). He asked an interesting question.... "What issue can unite American voters?" His optimistic theory is conservation is the one issue. For that to happen, Sierra Club and LCV would have to become truly non-partisan, or donors are going to have to invest heavily in groups like @ConservAmerica and @ACC_National

Republicans got toasted today. Sen. Thune must go into formal recess at Thanksgiving to allow @potus to fill every vacancy in the Administration. There will be no confirmations the next two weeks years.

Just saw a short video of Baby Abigail, born yesterday at 1.5 pounds. She's doing well...your prayers for her health are still needed. After seeing her perfect little body, her opening her eyes...I am utterly destroyed thinking that every Democrat holding federal office or running for federal office supports killing these human beings out of convenience. There simply is no policy issue that rises above stopping this ongoing holocaust (a million babies a year in the US).

My last election prediction: If Democrats win the House, we will experience the longest government shutdown in history as Democrats try to blackmail the Senate into restoring USAID, all the programs with which we're now finding massive fraud problems, AND seek guarantees that non-citizens will be counted in the 2030 census. I worked in the first Trump Administration--I saw firsthand how shutdowns negatively impact US policy and basic government services. @DonaldJTrumpJr @EricTrump @realDonaldTrump

One party supports the killing of a million unborn babies each year. The other is opposed to it. I will always vote for the latter party. People who can't fathom voting Republican, suffer from TDS, who prioritize the fate of humans who are here illegally, who think Iran with a nuclear bomb is okay, who think American taxpayers should keep subsidizing NATO defense and EU countries' socialism, can't be bothered to think about the 1 million innocents killed by their pro-abortion policies each year. It is a level of derangement that exceeds that of Southerners who supported slavery to the very end.

#ProLife friends. Please pray for Baby Abigail, born this morning at 1.5 pounds, to the daughter of a close friend. Abigail and her medical team need our prayers. I have a special saint for such intercessory prayers, Father Paul Faroh (@OLCprov): "Dear Father Paul- My dear friend in life, now my intercessor in Heaven, please pray for Baby Abigail, that she might grow in health and spirit, and become a woman of God."
