In The Line Of Fire (1993) With an airtight script, some great performances and a steady hand from director Wolfgang Peterson, In The Line Of Fire is enormously exciting and is mercifully free of that artificial energy that has plagued modern movies!!!

Wall Street (1987) ‘Greed is good’ Douglas dominates the movie but Sheen as Bud Fox is the heart of the movie, like the rest of his oeuvre, Stones filmmaker style is like heavy metal but when he hits the right chords, nobody plays with as much power and energy!!!

Cyborg (1989) It never distinguishes itself as anything other than a Mad Max wannabe and it might be just another martial arts film all dressed up with no place to go, but ironically enough the most believable cyborg is Van Damme in his role as a human!!!

Heat (1995) is a crime epic of incredible scale, both ominous and operatic, this is go-for-broke filmmaking from Mann. The conversation in the coffee shop between De Niro and Pacino is one of the most perfectly executed moments in the history of cinema!!

Hard Rain (1998) Virtually nothing that takes place here is believable but that’s kind of the point, yes it’s big, dumb, noisy and teaming with idiotic dialogue. Yet for all of its faults the movie has a certain swagger about it that keeps everything motoring right along!!!

House (1985) The movie borrows from all the right places and even if it can never quite decide what it wants to be, this bonkers horror movie is fun weird and filled with tons of nostalgic charm!!!

Out For Justice (1991) is one of the pony-tailed ones better if limited bone crunchers thanks to some good direction from the very underrated John Flynn. In the end you can’t help but feel this is old Jack city, a place where better movies have taken us before!!!

Nowhere To Run (1993) Brings a few fresh touches to Van Damme’s action movie style, but let’s be honest when Van Damme does what Van Damme does best and that’s thumping the bad guys that’s where the film works best!!!

Edge Of Tomorrow (2014) Regardless of the various other films Edge could be compared too, the end result is an endlessly entertaining movie and like the Angel Of Verdun this film kicks ass!!!
Robert Friend retweeted
Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom (1984) is a fantastic rollercoaster ride where anything goes, it whirls, it buzzes and it jumps! In the end Spielberg’s sequel is everything an adventure movie should be and more!!!

The Host (2006) is a ton of fun, it’s a monster movie for those who like a little meat on the genre’s bones. Bong Joon Ho’s creeping and leaping movie will leave you in shock and delight!!!

Silver Bullet (1985) is a fun 80s horror film rather than a terrifying one and is a fairly effective slasher movie in which the slasher is a lycanthrope!!!
Robert Friend retweeted
Red Heat (1988) is one of Arnold’s most underrated films and with Hill’s muscular direction makes what might have been just another buddy-cop thriller into an electrifying piece of escapism!!!
Robert Friend retweeted
Bone Tomahawk (2015) is something different for people who love westerns but be warned when the movie decides to stick the knife in, it will twist and turn it until it’s scraping along bone. A genuine oddity whose further cult status is assured!!!

Psycho 2 (1983) making the original’s antagonist its protagonist, this intelligent follow up is far better than it has any right to be and in no way soils the memory of its classic predecessor!!!
