Results are in for our annual mammal survey at Karakamia Wildlife Sanctuary. Of the 580 animals caught over just four nights, 455 were Woylies! High capture rates across species offer valuable data on how wildlife are tracking—especially after recent drought years.

This #WorldRewildingDay we’re shining a light on a successful example of #rewilding in practice. Over a decade ago, a small group of Red-tailed Phascogales were reintroduced to our Kojonup Reserve in southwest WA. Once widespread through the southern half of Australia, surviving populations are now few and far between. Ongoing monitoring shows that the Kojonup population is now thriving. Want to learn more? Check out our podcast episode ‘The secret life of phascogales’ 👉 bit.ly/41ULM8t #RewildingTogether

Reptiles reign on Faure Island! 🦎👑 In a recent pitfall survey, we recorded an impressive 23 of the island’s 28 confirmed reptile species! ⭐ Over 11 days and 15 survey sites, the team tallied 167 captures—a great result after 2 years of record-breaking drought.

After travelling a lot of miles and birding in 38 degree heat yesterday to try to get good shots of bluebonnet parrots, @boyfrombruce & I chalked it up to experience. Then, early this morning, I was sitting beside his dam & ~20 of them flew in to drink. Right in his backyard 😂

Maybe cats and water DO mix 💧 Prior to the release of 28 wildcats into the @CairngormsCo landscape, it was thought rivers may act as a physical barrier to their movements... GPS-radio collar data has since shown wildcats crossing the Spey without the use of bridges! 😸
