When the ACA gets repealed, the blue states should form a treaty alliance to create a massive big blue health care market that provides affordable health care for citizens in blue states with the ACA features. If those states form a common market, they can negotiate drug

Biden was right to respond with support and solidarity. It was also right to expect him, at some point over the last year, to pivot to real pressure to end the war and save human lives. He never did. From @mattduss trib.al/OXvRlKS

For those going canvassing this weekend. A few quick talking points.
FUN FACT: Each of us who support Kamala are de facto surrogates for her campaign. So we have to have the talking points at the ready to answer questions or criticism about her or her campaign. So here are a few at the ready: 1) She didn’t pass any great things as VP:

What’s so extraordinary is when it is revealed about an ostentatiously “conservative” Republican and even members of his own party are not the least bit surprised. No one is saying, “I can’t BELIEVE he would do that.” Instead, it’s like, “yup.”

Why don't Republican negative points vs Harris-Walz - some of them even approximately true! - do more damage? The problem Republicans have is that every election is a compare and contrast. And they overwhelmingly renominated a candidate who ... entered politics by propagandizing a defamatory "birther" conspiracy theory that was not only steeped in racism but also obviously crazy and stupid nytimes.com/2016/09/17/us/po… .... accepted the help of Russian spy agencies to win the presidency in 2016 ... theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv… directed tens of millions of taxpayer and foreign government $ to his own businesses ... axios.com/2024/01/04/report-… ordered a religious test on immigrants and visitors to the United States - rewrote it three times until a friendly Supreme Court disgraced the country by inscribing the rewritten ban into law ... npr.org/2018/06/26/606481548…. tried (and failed) to overturn healthcare coverage for Americans with no alternative to offer - but succeeded in overturning abortion rights for Americans ... funded his tax cuts with tax increases targeted to punish voters in Democratic-led states ... cnbc.com/2019/04/22/trump-ta… started trade wars not only with China, but against friends like the European Union, Canada, Japan, and South Korea. He encouraged close ally Britain to exit the EU - then refused Britain the US-UK trade treaty he'd promised ... washingtonpost.com/world/us-… as his anti-China trade war rapidly proved a costly fiasco forbes.com/sites/stuartander…, then connived in the Chinese cover-up of the deadly COVID outbreak through the pandemic's crucial early weeks ... washingtonpost.com/politics/… then to compensate for his own prior negligence, promoted quack remedies that harmed gullible people - and that later enabled cranks and charlatans to spread panic about the anti-COVID vaccines that actually could and did save lives .... ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article… made deals with Putin that he concealed from his own national security team ... washingtonpost.com/world/201… and blackmailed Ukraine, denying that democracy weapons unless it fabricated political dirt against his expected election opponent ... and was only barely dissuaded from quitting NATO altogether according to his own highest aides ... nytimes.com/2019/01/14/us/po… mocked and defamed America's most honored war dead theatlantic.com/politics/arc… and their grieving families ... npr.org/2016/08/01/488213964… abused his office to harass perceived corporate enemies like TimeWarner theatlantic.com/politics/arc… and Amazon nytimes.com/2019/12/09/techn… broke the law to incite harm against whistleblowers who revealed his corrupt actions ... thehill.com/homenews/news/52… tried to win the 2020 election by an elaborate scheme to deny ballots to Democratic voters .... politico.com/news/2020/09/30… encouraged supporters to intimidate election workers who wouldn't comply with his schemes ... nytimes.com/2020/12/03/us/el… then organized a conspiracy to overturn the lawful result ... npr.org/2023/08/01/119045995… and when that failed, turned to outright violence on January 6, 2021 ... stole ultra-classified government documents on his way out the door, including nuclear secrets - which he later showed to paying customers at Mar a Lago, including foreign nationals. nytimes.com/2023/10/05/us/po… Politics aside, the nominee is also a draft-dodger nytimes.com/2018/12/26/us/po…, and lifelong deadbeat eu.usatoday.com/story/news/p…, tax cheat nytimes.com/interactive/2018…, fraudster abcnews.go.com/US/live-updat…, and confessed serial sex abuser bbc.com/news/election-us-201…. As in 2020, we’re not paying NEARLY enough attention to the danger awaiting this country when Trump loses. He won’t accept the results. As in 2020, he’s setting the table RIGHT NOW for violence & unrest. And he has allies in states who’ll fight the results. We’re not prepared.

1/ Judge Aileen Cannon’s decision Monday to dismiss the classified documents criminal case against Donald Trump is not merely spurious jurisprudence or an example of incompetence. In any other country, we would recognize Cannon’s actions—dismissing a major criminal case against a presidential candidate on the first day of his party’s convention—to be part of an ongoing constitutional coup.  Even more so if that judge had been placed on the court by the defendant after he had lost his re-election bid (and before he incited an attempted insurrection, for which three of his appointments to the Supreme Court immunized him from prosecution two weeks ago.) xitter.gq/Mike_Podhorzer/status/…
1/ Let’s try a thought experiment. Suppose you heard that in another country, a defeated former president who had attempted a coup was granted immunity for that coup by six Supreme Court judges, half of whom he had appointed; that this attempted coup included a widely-televised, deadly assault on the nation’s capitol intended to prevent the certification of his defeat in the last election; and that the Court’s immunity ruling came just months before a next election in which this defeated president is once again a candidate, seeking to recover the powers he previously abused. What would you expect the focus of news reports about that Supreme Court’s ruling to be? a) Debating whether the ruling itself aligns with the history and traditions of that nation’s legal system, or b) Explaining the Court’s role in an ongoing authoritarian coup.

The legal max a person can donate to a candidate is $3300. But, when billionaires like Elon Musk exploit our broken campaign finance laws to donate $45 million a month to a candidate, we’re no longer a democracy and it’s no longer an election — it’s an oligarchy and an auction.

1/ I’m an Israeli academic. My community is too silent about the ongoing war in Gaza. Here is how I see things based on reading hundreds of articles and watching thousands of videos and images about the war. This tweet chain contains my conclusions as a sort of executive summary.

A remarkable tour de force; summarizing the utterly shameless mendacity with which Republicans tried to sell the garbage Biden/Burisma narrative. Maybe the best summary you’ll see this year: publicnotice.co/p/comer-smir… – at Columbus, OH

Doing Trump impressions isn’t how we beat Trump. Seeking asylum is a legal right of all people. In the face of authoritarian threat, we should not buckle on our principles - we should commit to them. The mere suggestion is outrageous and the President should refuse to sign it.
President Biden is considering executive action to restrict migrants seeking asylum at the US-Mexico border, sources tell CNN cnn.it/3SM5qiC

What are we waiting for? Putin’s assets of over $300b are there to be seized for helping Ukraine, Navalny’s homeland. The US and our allies need to do what international law allows and morality demands. NOW! washingtonpost.com/world/202…

Navalny is dead and Ukraine is running out of bullets. Buying the Republican Party has proven to be Putin’s best investment.

🧵1/17 I just listened to a live Twitter discussion in Arabic hosted by multiple Palestinian dissidents & activists, many from #Gaza, titled: "Gazan perspectives trample the opinions of Twitter Mujahideen." They tore into #Hamas & offered opinions on the war in Gaza. Key points:
