But beyond the headlines, I believe there's a bigger question we should be asking: What does this mean for the future of Core DAO and its community? As a Web3 educator and community builder, here's my take... Decentralization is more than a buzzword. In Web3, we often talk about decentralization, but its true meaning goes beyond distributing nodes or removing a few individuals from leadership positions. It's about building a system that can thrive without depending on a handful of people. If Core is entering a new phase of decentralization, the real test is whether the ecosystem can continue to innovate, grow, and make meaningful decisions through a broader network of contributors. The community must be more than a support system. For years, community members have educated newcomers, created content, onboarded users, and driven adoption. But there's a difference between contributing to an ecosystem and having a meaningful voice in its future. If the community is expected to take greater responsibility, it should also have transparent opportunities to participate in governance, access ecosystem support, and influence strategic decisions. Decentralization should distribute opportunities and influence, not just responsibilities. As someone passionate about Web3 adoption across Africa, I'm particularly interested in what this could mean for grassroots builders. There are educators, community builders, developers, and independent contributors doing meaningful work without necessarily having access to the resources or networks available to established players. Could Core's next chapter create more opportunities for these people to contribute and grow? Imagine an ecosystem where your impact matters more than your proximity to influential individuals. That's the kind of decentralization worth pursuing. But let's not celebrate too early. Leadership transitions come with risks. Who takes responsibility for ongoing initiatives? How will strategic decisions be made? What safeguards will prevent power from becoming concentrated elsewhere? These questions deserve clear answers. We shouldn't automatically interpret these departures as a crisis; neither should we assume that every leadership transition automatically strengthens decentralization. The outcomes will matter more than the announcements and that's the truth. My final take? I don't believe the departure of early contributors necessarily signals danger for Core DAO. In fact, a blockchain ecosystem should aspire to become resilient enough to outlive its pioneers. But success requires more than people stepping aside. It requires transparent governance, sustainable opportunities for builders, accountable decision-making, and a community with meaningful influence. Ultimately, the question isn't simply who leaves or who stays. It's whether Core can build an ecosystem where its future doesn't depend on a few individuals. That's the real test of decentralization. Core is entering its next phase of decentralization. Since the DAO began handing over its block-production role to independent validators, the network has run with zero downtime throughout the transition. Decentralization has guided Core since its first block. Each handoff of DAO initiatives to independent community operators builds on that foundation. Now, the community will continue taking on a greater share of stewardship across Core, from ecosystem building and growth initiatives to the decisions that shape its direction. As part of this transition, initial contributors like Rich Rines and Brendon Sedo are stepping out of their roles in the DAO. A network owned and led by its community is built to last. In the months ahead, more independent operators, more community-led projects, and more Coretoshi voices will shape where Core goes next. Thank you to every validator, builder, and Coretoshi continuing to carry Core forward. Bitcoin's full potential remains untapped. Core will keep pushing that frontier forward, in service of decentralization, self-sovereignty, and freedom.

China is going onchain but may not support XRP and other assets... China aims to establish its national blockchain network by 2030 under the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Informatization. Under the plan, distribution nodes are being created around business centers and will focus on cross-border trade and clearing in the Yangtze River Delta, and on logistics tracing in the Chengdu-Chongqing industrial belt. Meanwhile, China strictly bans business activities related to virtual assets, including $XRP, $BTC, and others.
