That was incredibly stupid of her.

Sometimes it takes a jackass to kick-start something. But as Danielle Smith is about to learn, nobody is indispensable in politics. Start mouthing off about how great you are and how you don't need anyone who disagrees with you, and find out.

He was a useful tool.
It isn't a media portrayal problem this time, Nicole. Jean-Marie was genuinely offensive, and Rath is even moreso. He is absolutely toxic, even toward people who are four-square in favour of independence. Arrogant, abusive, obsessive, and just a general all-around jerk.

Understandable. But I see the UCP as the tool to get to independence. Just needs some manipulation. A new provincial party is a complete waste of time, money and resources. The UCP already has 50% of the separatists.
Replying to @Roll4Rod
I can't imagine conservatives will vote NDP. Progressives might. But I won't vote for a party that is just as bad as the NDP. If UCP makes major changes I'll support them, but not now. Politicians never make changes unless the pressure is there. If they want support, earn it.

David Eby was the last remaining anti-oil Premier in Canada. Now every Premier across Canada supports the oil and gas industry and supports building pipelines. The Trudeau-Guilbeault climate agenda was finally put down on Saturday night. Get the shovels in the ground.

# 3 is retarded.
Three paths keep coming up in the independence movement right now: 1. Stick with Danielle Smith through 2027. 2. Push for a leadership review and a new leader before 2027. 3. Start an independence party. Each has pros and cons. Which one do you like best? Vote below 馃憞

On a risk reward basis, which is a wiser move; 1- support her to win the next provincial election and secure Alberta 4 more years of conservative government. Then remove her under a leadership review. 2- hold November leadership review to oust her. Hold a campaign for a new leader that will not get her main bases support. Then go into a campaign to try and win a provincial election with a candidate that is hated without cause by the NDP and 25% of Conservatives. (for ousting Smith) The suffer 4 years of NDP to teach conservatives a lesson is not an option.
If even 15% of the 56% of the UCP vote in the last election stay home or take Smith up on her offer to join a new party, Smith will not win in 2027.

鈥硷笍NEW: Mark Carney has barred the new Quebec Premier, Plamondon, from speaking at Canada-European Union Summit in Montreal this week. ... he also refuses to allow Quebec to organize a reception on the sidelines of the Summit Quebec is FREAKING OUT. Carney is stomping them.

So Canada makes legal paths for a province to become independent and people call it sedition? 馃悞馃ぁ
You say "seditionist" as if it's a bad thing 馃ぃ Anything that works to bring independence from this broken, lopsided Confederation is a good thing.

Rath was needed, at the start.
Rath is the worst thing to happen to the independence movement. Comes across as a loudmouth boisterous dummy.
7
Rath was needed. He鈥檚 like at the start of a big construction reno. You bring the big jackhammer in a start smashing down the unwanted. But then you change your tools once the stage is set.
Well, that is how the media portrays him...

Yes, the longer we hold power the more changes the party can do internally. A new 4 year mandate would give the constituents time and power to do that without conceding power.

It's too bad the UCP are spending like socialists...

They definitely do need changes. Carefully so not to jeopardize the party. I will never agree with 4 years of NDP to punish the conservatives that won鈥檛 step in line. That is a retard tactic.
During Klein, when he eliminated the debt, energy was almost 80%lower than it is now. It crashed around the NDP time. Currently it is over $100. PCs did overspend but not as much as today; PCs were decimated because of it. UCP needs changes or they'll be decimated too.

Strategy
If anyone thinks that we can win this with feelgoodz, you have not been paying attention.

Hard to argue that one. That鈥檚 the thing about energy. You make all you can when it鈥檚 good to cover the bad times. It鈥檚 too bad we have federal limits.
It's Trump's wars that are saving us right now.

This is what Premier haters are losing their shit over... Yes @Martyupnorth that includes you. Heaven forbid we have the same policy as last year but have it be more efficient.
