When Dhirubhai Ambani passed away, he left behind Reliance Industries with a market cap of Rs 30000 c. His son Mukesh Ambani has taken his group's mcap to Rs 30 lakh crore. 100 x growth in 24 years. Phenomenal. Hope his kids take Reliance group to upwards of 100 lakh crore in mcap and give India its first Trillion Dollar mcap group.
Every middle class family should also aspire like this. If your dad leaves behind 10 lakh, put in efforts and take your family networth to 10 c in your life time and inculcate values in your son so that he takes it up to 100 c in his life time! From 10 l to 100 c in three generations - every middle class can do it through prudent investing and patience.

Is this your standard of secularism, The New Indian Express? 🤡
The same newspaper, the same journalist, but two completely different narratives. What a convenient way to practise “secularism”! Pick your narrative, preach your values, and call it journalism.
The New Indian Express, is this kind of journalism worthy of your reputation? What exactly are you trying to prove with these blatant double standards?

The hysterical reaction of China to French footballer Mbappé casual banter about Mao being a dictator is astonishing.
It is being projected as a national insult and the Chinese social media has gone berserk in a nationalist fit over such a trivial matter.
Makes look China’s insecure despite being powerful.
The human havoc caused by Mao’s Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution are historical facts.
Deng Xiaoping himself characterised Mao’s record as 70% good and 30% bad.
Threatened with loss of sponsorship Mbappé has made a grovelling apology and so has the Liga, his Spanish club.
The European luxury brands are loth to lose the Chinese market.
Truth and conscience sacrificed so ignominiously for money.

Loss in Varanasi and Nagpur although few were not held by BJP but are symbolic loss.
Introspection, specially when UP assembly elections are just 3-4 months away is very much needed.
BJP & RSS need to come together without if & buts.
UP cannot be lost before 2029.

Do not believe in such Propaganda spread by Dog Mafia. Truth is that the failed Lucknow model has 1.8 Lakh dog bite cases every year.
If you call this success then India is doomed. @Talenant_02

Its only on papers. NGOs creating their own data and then publishing it themselves. The tender for Lucknow has been given to Humane World for Animals, an American NGO. Will they tell us why they habe a different strategy for managing stray dogs in US vs India?

The government gives you money in the name of freebies and takes it back in the form of inflation.
Rice, pulses, onions, milk and almost every daily essential are becoming increasingly expensive.
The sooner people realise that freebies aren’t necessarily uplifting them, the better.

Absolutely. They also need to understand something called disconfirmation paradigm. When people judge political parties, they rarely look at the absolute scenarios for comparison. Instead, they grade them against their expectations from them.
If a party which has high hopes resting on it, delivers a performance that falls short of great, public might feel hugely disappointed.
On the other hand, a party conceived as rogue needs to only make right noises to get enough favour. It is an unfair scenario but that is how politics operates. Also there is a lot BJP could easily do to fix things but it doesn’t seem eager to do so, at least at present.

BJP's "Denial Mode" over the 2024 election results is dangerous. Unless the leadership accepts that there was public resentment, there is zero room for course correction. Delusion kills the scope for improvement.

After by-elections, the MLC election results are signalling a trend which BJP could ignore only at its own peril. There are many things which it can do but the first and most important step is to go back and once again become a ‘Party’.

The World Bank raised the extreme poverty line to $3/day in 2025. India cleared a higher bar, not an easier one. When the goalposts move up, the scorecard usually gets worse. This one improved anyway. None of this was luck.
JAM plugged the leakages. Welfare money now lands in the beneficiary's bank account, not in a middleman's pocket.
80 crore people get free foodgrain every month. That is a consumption floor no slowdown can break.
Rural India is catching up. The rural urban spending gap was 84% in 2011-12. Today it is about 70%.
Critics will say these numbers measure consumption, not income. Fair point. Consumption is what poor households actually live on.
The harder part starts now. Getting people above the line took transfers and access. Keeping them there needs jobs, skills and wages that grow faster than prices.
The floor is built. Time to build the ladder.
According to World Bank's latest report, India's extreme poverty has fallen from 27.6% to just under 2.6%.
And for Indians living under Rs. 400 a day (lower middle income), it has come down from 57.7% of the population to 16.1%.
Remarkable achievement by India given the rupee depreciated and the inflationary pressure of a fast growing economy.

When children in urban upper middle class enclaves get more excited about Halloween than Diwali, parents need to examine the cultural atmosphere they have created. Halloween gets costumes, decorations and enthusiastic planning. Diwali gets lectures in school from teachers about pollution and noise. Trick or Treat and 'Candy' is now halaal and Pataakhe and Mithai is haraam. Children notice which festival adults make joyful and which they treat as an inconvenience. Teaching children that imported customs are fashionable while inherited traditions are embarrassing reveals a poverty of confidence. Make Diwali magical with firecrackers, religious grounding, music, food, family and celebration. Civilisational continuity requires participation. Children cannot cherish what their parents never bother to animate.

India is being lectured by western military commanders that we could learn drone warfare from NATO and its friends. Incredible how we Indians are putting on a blindfold and hoping to learn from an over-hyped and over-priced military-industrial complex.
Meanwhile, the so-called revolution in military affairs is ironically being revealed by NATO’s adversaries with the innovations, tactics and economic sustainability of the war fighting machine these powers have demonstrated in live battlefields in the Middle East and Europe.
For all the hype of dazzling Ukrainian drones and despite access to a sophisticated US satellite targeting and digital network, it has still (1) lost most of its vital territory and access to the sea, (2) is exposed at will to relentless Russian missile power in every nook and corner of the country including subterranean command & control facilities and critical infrastructure, (3) has lost elite troops, degraded its main reserves as well as the supply of its core fighting age population. (4) its western backers have been deterred from intervening in more disruptive ways and have lost the surplus capacities to effectively support Ukraine.
In other words, the survival of the state has been imperiled. But record of this devastating military conflict is narrated in a way that Ukraine might be the one to provide lessons in the new military age. Are we perceiving an alternative reality?
The real lesson — an age of mass precision strike and battlefield transparency favors the state with escalation dominance, a deep and sustainable magazine for a prolonged engagement, and an overall military superiority in that unique theatre of war fighting. Both Russia and Iran have proven this beyond any doubt in their distinct geopolitical contexts.

Saddest reality of India, People who are paying Income Tax, do not:
• Send their kids to government schools
• Avail treatment at public hospitals
• Once they have paid tax, they still pay more taxes on GST, petrol, Toll, insurance, buying cars
In Devloped countries, the tax might be 50%-- but with free healthcare, education and other facilities, the taxpaying public actually avails it.
Any civilized people who grow sense will stop supporting 1000s of crores on building Monuments, Free Ration, Subsidies, Free bus ride, Free electricity, Highly subsidized LPG, Thousands of rupees monthly allowances etc
It simply crushes a handful of taxpayers more, who get limited or No benefits to begin with.
