Wasn’t there a time this guy was a respected financial commentator? Now he just seems to be chasing leftist likes with any old nonsense. There are important issues around tax rates, incentives and the validity of any social contract but he goes full Polanski!
A very clear statement of the views of people who believe they’re too important to be taxed.

If there is a worse rail service on the planet than @GWRHelp may I never have to use it!

It is hard to overstate the incompetence of @GWRHelp. I seriously cannot remember the last time a train from Paddington to Reading after 22.00 left and arrived on time. Nor can I remember being given accurate information at the station. It’s an absolute farce and a weekly one!

The usual farcical situation at Paddington in the evening. Who knows when @GWRHelp trains are going to run as no one bothers to tell us. Your service is beyond awful!

Usual disaster on @GWRHelp. I wonder what the punctuality record is from Paddington to Reading after 22.00. In my experience over the last three years it is zero. The timetable bears about as much resemblance to the truth as an Andy Burnham speech! As a result of being nearly 30 mins late, I missed the last bus so had to get an Uber. I suggested to the Duty Manager that GWR might care to pay, His response was that Uber is illegal in Reading and that a taxi would take 20 minutes. I ordered an Uber, which arrived in 6 minutes.

Does anyone not think this is deeply sinister? 1930s Germany is a massively overworked analogy … until something like this comes along. Frankly, if I were Jewish, I’d be leaving now. As it happens, I am leaving but for largely for other reasons, though the hostility faced by some of my oldest friends, generally from people whose families arrived here far more recently, is not something I am prepared to watch.
In Hackney today, the Apartheid Free Zone group met to discuss setting up a zone in Hackney. These groups go door-knocking to ask ‘about Israel’. Hackney has a fairly high Jewish population. Green Cllr George Sheldon Grün attended this meeting. They also had a raffle at the end:

Does anyone seriously think the Russian state and the CCP haven't tried to influence *every* election where they have a self-perceived interest? Does anyone think they've actually succeeded in changing the result? Burnham is trying to prepare the ground for rejoining. He doesn't care how many lies he has to tell on that journey.
This is key: Foreign Office minister @SDoughtyMP says Russia was NOT successful influencing Brexit referendum “Did they succeed when it came to the Brexit referendum? Was that an effective attempt? Stephen Doughty: Well, the security minister has spoken about this before, and he's been very clear that they've attempted to [but] they haven't succeeded. They do attempt to interfere in our processes, have attempted to interfere in a whole number of them. And of course, it's not just Russia, it's other countries, too. but this is a whole society effort.

Perhaps Bailey should issue a Bailey warning, given that even the BofE accepts that most of the blame for the 2022 rate spike attaches to it. Come on, @Telegraph, get your history right! telegraph.co.uk/business/202…

I remember @DanielJHannan telling me in 2014/15 that the worst leftist bias in TV is not in news/current affairs but drama and comedy. I’m watching Unforgotten: every bad politician is a Tory, all entrepreneurs are (white and) corrupt or murderous, every character complains about “Tory cuts”. It’s propaganda. It makes Silent Witness seem almost balanced!

Oh, and now it’s all the fault of slavery. Of course it is! 🙄

Yet another example of why I pay so little attention to politicians. They are almost all idiots and are driving this country into disaster, with their foot flat to the floor. I’m out!

Energy security going well, I see!
Since 2009, Britain has lost five main-fuels refineries. Every one closed while either @Ed_Miliband or @EdwardJDavey was Energy Secretary. They include: 1) Teesside (2009) - Ed Miliband 2) Coryton (2012) - Ed Davey 3) Milford Haven (2014) - Ed Davey 4) Grangemouth (2025) - Ed Miliband 5) Lindsey (2025) - Ed Miliband

Who could ever have foreseen this, eh? And it’s not just @UKLabour. Don’t (let him) forget that @michaelgove bears significant responsibility.
This would be the chart that would worry me at No.10 (North & South). Rents now rising at +4.2% YoY. There were plenty of warnings that the Renters Reform Act would constrain supply, and cause a surge in rents. Typically rents lag core inflation by ~18 months (due to lease renewal lags) so the pick coming now - with more inflation likely in the new year - risks making this a big political problem heading into an election.

Just in case you didn’t already think that Stewart is a Grade A arsehole, here he is confirming it. “It happened 10, 12 years ago”. So that makes it OK? No, it doesn’t. And it’s still happening. Most of those girls are now in their 20s and 30s. Tell them it’s in the past!
'Is Elon Musk clear that a lot of grooming cases he talks about happened ten years ago?' Rory Stewart explains why he believes there are more important issues facing Britain than gangs of 'predominantly Pakistani Muslim men' grooming women and girls. The real issue isn’t that we’ve conceded four, bad though that is, but we’ve never looked like scoring. Awful performance.

The last three PL goals we’ve conceded have been deflections, this last one a double. Not getting much luck! #NUFC

Sadly characteristic “service” from @GWRHelp tonight. Absolutely packed train, people standing all the way down the aisles, and all they have to say is don’t sit in First Class with a Standard ticket. Thanks. How about running a decent service, where we can get a seat, or is that beyond you? It certainly seems so!
