Last week, we celebrated Eastern European heritage at Gracie Mansion, because the story of New York City cannot be told without the story of our Eastern European neighbors. From new immigrants to those who've lived here for generations, Eastern Europeans have built New York City. We owe them a city they can afford to call home.

This new Jewish museum (?) is located in a one of Baghdadโ€™s former Jewish schools, Shamash, which was attended by a 90+ year old friend of mine. The museum, and all of Iraq, is impossible to visit for almost all descendants of Iraqโ€™s former Jewish community.
