If he doesn’t win MVP this year, then he’s never going to. Doing him dirty just like they did with Kobe. How on earth did Kobe only win one? Just shows you how meaningless awards are really. 🤷🏻

Kobe was in disbelief when LeBron passed instead of going 1-on-1 against him in the final seconds of the 2012 All-Star Game. Adrian Wojnarowski wrote the next day: “Nothing in his DNA demanded that he go after Bryant there, that he destroy him in that moment.”

If the Lakers can get picks out of this it’d be huge.

The Cavaliers are willing to acquire Bronny James in order to lure LeBron back to Cleveland, per @TheSteinLine. Bronny’s contract with the Lakers this season just became guaranteed. Cleveland will keep open two roster spots for LeBron and Bronny.

Yep, Lakers hardly got fleeced. They kept it moving and got the deal done. Alternative is signing him to an offer sheet and praying Utah don’t match down the line - meanwhile you lose your cap space and miss out on everyone else.

Yep - he turns 25 later this month. He’s about to hit his prime he’s clearly never played with anyone on Luka’s level, so it’ll be interesting to see how much better than makes him offensively. Losing picks always sucks - but he was restricted. People need to remember that.
Ben Rosales (@brosales12) profile pictureBen Rosales@brosales12Jul 1
I’m OK with all the moves today other than Sexton over Smart, although sounds like the latter didn’t want to come back. Ultimately this all tilts on Kessler’s development curve. If he’s a defensive monster and an elite play finisher for Luka/Reaves, this ultimately makes sense.

Like LeBron, was this more of a “happiness” decision for Marcus? Lakers are getting roasting for letting him go for this amount, but maybe Houston is just more appealing to him - he’s from Texas, played for Udoka in Boston etc.

Free agent guard Marcus Smart has agreed on a two-year, $13 million deal with the Houston Rockets, plus a player option for the second season, sources tell ESPN. The former Defensive Player of the Year reunites with Ime Udoka for significant opportunity in the Rockets backcourt.

Probably the best for the Lakers and LeBron at this point. Luka is the future, they can now build solely around him. And LeBron can end his career on his terms.
