CRISPR has the potential to cure many genetic diseases, but it’s notoriously hard to use in neurons. In this work we tackled 2 of the main hurdles: Cas9 delivery and DNA repair. And we discovered… The rules of genome editing are different in neurons👇🏾 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

New cover!! After putting in hours of hard work, I truly deserve a delicious cup of coffee, and it brings me joy to see my image on the cover. Now, with an extra boost of caffeine, I'll continue creating nice images.❤ Peptide-boosted uptake of CRISPR enzymes This issue highlights that prime editing can efficiently correct the sickle-cell allele in patient haematopoietic stem cells, a Cas9-based gene therapy for Huntington’s disease tested in pigs, the efficient peptide-mediated delivery of CRISPR enzymes, a method for the knock-in and stable expression of large payloads in primary human cells, that adding cytosine stretches to the 5′ end of single-guide RNAs constrains the activity of Cas9, and a library of cytosine base editors for the precise ablation of every mtDNA protein-coding gene in the mouse mitochondrial genome. The cover illustrates that a peptide identified via screening aids the delivery of CRISPR ribonucleoprotein into cells, increasing the yield of edited primary human lymphocytes. #ella_maru_studio #ella_maru #sciart #science #medcalillustration #medicalartist #sciencegirl #biology #chemistry #phdlife #journalcover #phd #scicomm #womaninscience #medicalartist #sciencegirl #biology #Chemistry
