House Speaker Mike Johnson’s description of Islam as a “misguided religion” is an unfortunate and irresponsible statement, and Speaker Johnson must clarify if he meant to attack Islam in this way.
Islam is one of the world’s great Abrahamic faiths, practiced peacefully by nearly two billion people worldwide and millions of Americans who contribute to this country every day as doctors, teachers, soldiers, entrepreneurs and public servants.
Leaders entrusted with the highest offices in the United States should promote understanding and unity—not stigmatize entire faith communities.
Religious literacy and basic respect are the minimum standards we should expect from those in positions of power.

Congressman Gill,
“Allahu Akbar” means “God is the Greatest,” words recited daily in prayer by millions of peaceful Muslim Americans.
To portray a sacred expression of faith as violence maligns millions and is beneath the dignity and responsibility of a member of Congress. American leaders should unite citizens, not stigmatize them.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA condemns all terrorism and criminal acts committed using sacred Islamic terms. We stand for peace, loyalty to country and protection of every American’s religious freedom. We welcome respectful dialogue.

At an address to American officials at Capitol Hill in 2012, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad urged political leaders to adopt justice and serve less developed nations rather than unfairly usurping their natural resources under the pretext of helping them.

This kind of rhetoric must be categorically rejected and corrected.
@RepFine, Muslims do not seek the destruction of anyone. We unequivocally reject violence, hatred and calls for destruction against any group.
Islam teaches that peace, justice and compassion are the true paths to security and coexistence. The Holy Quran states: “Whosoever killed a person—unless it be for killing a person or for creating disorder in the land—it shall be as if he had killed all mankind; and whoso saved a life, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind.” (5:33)
Your call for destruction is hateful, reckless and fundamentally at odds with the values this country stands for: justice, due process and the dignity of every human being.
When an elected official declares destruction the answer, they are not protecting lives. They are normalizing the logic of endless war and erasing the humanity of millions of innocent people.
This rhetoric does not make anyone safer. It fuels fear, legitimizes atrocities and corrodes the moral foundations of a democratic society built on the rule of law and human dignity.
Islam upholds the sanctity of life. America claims to do the same. Leaders must be held to that standard.

Today, gunmen attacked worshippers during Friday prayers at the Baitul Mahdi Mosque in Rabwah, Pakistan, the headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community there. Six worshippers were wounded before guards killed one of the attackers while the other two fled.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA is deeply concerned and prays for the full recovery of those injured. We call on Pakistani authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and urge the government to end the daily, state-sanctioned persecution Ahmadi Muslims face simply for practicing their faith.
Every citizen deserves the right to worship freely.
