Folk culture is the right comparison. I visited TeamLab Phenomena in Abu Dhabi and the work only exists because the technical ecosystem around it keeps running. Without community and hardware, a digital artwork is just a file gathering dust.
"Digital art resembles kinds of folk culture, and museums have always neglected folk culture, partly because they found it difficult to incorporate in their collections."

i am jet lagged but definitely meant to include the brilliant and thoughtful @AlexEstorick founding editor of @RtClick_Save
The three are a trifecta of knowledge, passion and scholarship.
@Noahbolanowski
@monkantony_tez
@AlexEstorick
I am always simultaneously amazed and humbled people choose to follow my account.
Truth be told if you are serious about learning about the field; I follow @monkanthony aka Peter Bauman @lerandomart and @Noahbolanowski.
These two luminous minds provide gifts to us. for all.

A few years ago, I discovered Parker Ito, and with the emergence of the Avant-NFT scene, I quietly started collecting his pieces. Drilady, Horses 2 and 7, The Pilgrimās Living Room Crucifixion, 10,000 Oil Paintings.
Thereās something about his work that I find hard to put into words, but that drew me in from day one. Maybe itās what he himself described in a recent fascinating conversation with @AlexEstorick on @RtClick_Save as art that ālures you in with its dumbness but then reveals a complexity that might not have been apparent at first.ā
Whatever it is, Iām incredibly happy to have acquired one of his very few 1/1s today:
There's No Gambling in Heaven, 2026.
