Doctor Who legend John Leeson has passed away at 83 🕊️ A metal dog shouldn't have been able to steal hearts. John Leeson gave K9 the voice that made it possible. The beloved Doctor Who actor has passed away at 83, following what his son described as a summer of illness. His family said his final moments were peaceful. Leeson first gave K9 his unmistakable voice in 1977, turning what could have been a simple robotic sidekick into one of the franchise's most enduring companions. That wonderfully precise delivery, the loyalty to the Doctor and the unforgettable “Affirmative, Master!” gave K9 a personality entirely his own. And the character endured. Leeson returned across different eras of Doctor Who, later bringing K9 back alongside David Tennant and Elisabeth Sladen before continuing the role through The Sarah Jane Adventures and other projects. Generations of fans heard John Leeson's voice whenever that little metal dog rolled onto the screen. K9 may have been built from metal, but Leeson gave him his heart. Rest in peace, John Leeson 🕊️
