Last week in Cape Town, Africa CDC’s Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) and Advocacy Division took centre stage at the 18th World Congress on Public Health (#WCPH2026)!
Our dynamic SBC side event united global public health leaders to discuss how harnessing social and behavioural evidence can build trust, boost health service uptake, and drive policies that truly respond to community needs.
Participants underscored the importance of institutionalising SBC as a core public health function for disease prevention, emergency preparedness and response, immunization and resilient health systems.

Today, the University of Rwanda, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance, Françoise Kayitare Tengera, signed a landmark agreement with Ms. Alison Parker, Deputy Regional Director of #UNICEF Eastern and Southern Africa, to launch the Academia 4 Social and Behaviour Change Network.
The signing ceremony, held at the United Nations offices in #Nairobi, brought together 24 leading universities from across Africa, united in their commitment to drive impactful research, innovation, and capacity building in social and behaviour change.
This milestone positions the University of Rwanda as a key player in shaping evidence-based solutions for sustainable development and community well-being across the continent. @AlisonvParker

According to the 7th Integrated Household Living Conditions Survey launched today by @statisticsRW, over 1.5 million people have been lifted out of poverty since 2017. The overall poverty rate has declined from 39.8% to 27.4%, and extreme poverty has fallen from 11.3% to 5.4%. #EICV7
