Just walked past a bin man struggling to get a wheelie bin to connect to the bin lorry. He said “come on, you silly sod” to the bin. Struck me as very British. We talk to inanimate objects like they’re frustrating mates. I called my oven hob a “bloody idiot” yesterday.

Various ways a British person responds to being deeply insulted: “Bit harsh” “There’s no need for that” “Unnecessary” “Mate…” “That’s your opinion” “Oh cheers!” “Thanks a bunch” “I beg your pardon” “Steady on” “Well…” “Have you quite finished?” “Fair enough” “That’s uncalled for” “Bit rude” “I’ll put the kettle on” “Wow” “Anything else?” “Right-o” “Thanks for your honesty” “And you’re sure about that?” “Blimey” “Yeah, well, you’re not perfect either” “Charming” “I see” “I’m sorry you feel that way” “Sorry”

I say this as an Italian: regardless of whether you want to be a parent, children are people who belong in restaurants and cafes and libraries, and wanting them out of all public spaces has become far too disturbingly normalised in the Anglosphere.

In less than a week, on the 21st March @CambsCC will vote on whether to DESTROY its largest traditional orchard. A HABITAT OF PRINCIPAL IMPORTANCE, a 1000 trees, for a £200m tarmac road for buses. A loss @greatercambs claim can be “lessened to non-significant” in 30 years by “mitigation”, it cannot. Media, shine a light on those who have a vote so that we, and the generations behind us, who will have to pay for their decision, can bear witness 🌳🚌❌🐝 #TippingPoint #Ecocide #ClimateCrisis #Biodiversity Loss #CostOfLivingCrisis 🖊 change.org/p/save-the-green-… xitter.gq/unbiodiversity/s…
Apple trees benefit all sorts of wildlife, but traditional orchards are now rare in the UK – around two thirds have been lost since 1960. So please plant apple trees to help bats, birds, butterflies and bees! Advice: bit.ly/3GHhgob Via @LGSpace

Word of the day is a reminder of 'ipsedixitism' (16th century): the assertion that something is 'fact' because someone else said so.

Did any news network say this about any male politician resigning?? What about Boris and all his kids? This is so exhausting. And why women are silly enough trying to have it all...no one complains that we're also DOING it all as well.

Phrases that mean nothing will happen: Leave it with me I’ll have a word I’ll see what I can find Consider it done I’ll make some calls I’ll think about it Certainly a possibility Let’s come back to that Good idea Maybe It’s on my list Might see you down there I’ll look into it

Under normal circumstances, I do my best to ignore the 20th Dec. Its the anniversary of when, as a 16-year-old in care, I was kicked out by my foster carer via a note on the kitchen table. I never really got over it. But in the wake of yesterday's shocking judgement depriving

So, the Accessibility Experience Team at Twitter is no longer. We had so much more to do, but we worked hard! There aren't very many people that have had the opportunity to make such an important global platform like Twitter accessible, but we understood the mission.

Word of the day, once again, has to be 'apricity' (17th century): the warmth of the sun on a chilly day. It's too good to lose.
