Game dev is hard.
But at the same time it's a really beautiful thing.
I didn't grow up playing games, but I've really loved learning the process and seeing everyone's projects grow.
There's still so much heart out there, amidst the slop.

I managed to figure out and engineer a full eye and eyebrow mechanism with simple pistons and telescoping/curtaining. It's fully mechanical and riggable.
This is a reminder that @Slime_64 is 100% homegrown, grassfed, and being made with love.

Create things yourself or with others. Take your time and do the tough parts. Feel proud when you say "I made this!"

Semihot(?) take:
As an artist and animator for indie games, I ADORE "programmer art".
It's literally my favorite genre.
Stick figures and hand drawn assets read "I put my heart and soul into going out of my comfort zone and beyond my physical capabilities to do what I love."
Whereas I feel confident in saying that most folks playing indie games read AI art as "I just want money"
Obv Toby and the rest of the skilled folks on the UT/DR team are making something so beautiful and profound
This take is more for solo devs with little to no art background
