THREAD: DON’T BELIEVE THE TALKING HEADS! It pisses me off to see the “experts” on TV trying to explain why personal insolvencies are up almost 16% in Ontario so far this year, the largest increase in about a decade. They have no clue. /1

@jkenney Based on the removal of this program (#IDMTC) we will be re-examining our plans for aggressive growth in Alberta. We doubled the size of our studio since the program was enacted. We had plans to create many more jobs in Alberta. We will now have to reassess those plans.

A significantly better way to put this could be: "You can teach someone about financial literacy & they can have the knowledge they need to succeed, but knowledge is not enough to yank yourself out of poverty. Education is important AND it's not the solution to larger problems."

W. No contest. You out of M's? Flip that thing over. Need a couple V's? W got you covered. Chops into an A, E, F, H, I K, L, N, T, X, Y and Z. If we started over tomorrow it would be 26 W's and a pair of safety scissors.

Personal finance is one area of life where, counterintuitively, being smarter will not get you better results Also, spending more time fiddling with investments will get you worse results Automate and move on
A great way to make 7% when an S&P fund will return 10%. Spend a little time learning about investing and there is no reason you can't have 12% returns. Set it and forget it is terrible advice. People should care about their finances and their future.

Your habits are often a byproduct of friction and convenience. Humans are wired to seek the path of least resistance, which means the most convenient option is often the winning option. Make good choices more convenient and bad choices less so. Behavior will improve naturally.

I forgot who said it, but someone once said that if business news headline writers named elevator buttons, they’d say SOAR and PLUNGE. Saw a headline this morning that described a 1.37% drop as the market “plummeting”. – at Mississauga, Ontario

Friday Finances: There are two types of life transitions: those you know are coming and those you don't. But in both cases they're usually a stressful time. It's worth your time to plan ahead for these transitions before your in the thick of it. #worrylesslivemore #finovo
