We welcome today's publication of the UK Government's ambitious new International Education Strategy. In the announcement, FCDO Minister Baroness Chapman confirmed that the British Council will be a strategic partner in the Government's aim of growing education exports, using our expertise to strengthen education systems around the world.
We will collaborate closely with the Government, the devolved nations, and the education sector to deliver the Strategy's three ambitions, particularly the new ambition to ensure that the UK is the global partner of choice at every stage of learning.
The new strategy supports our belief that continued international engagement in education through student mobility to and from the UK, sustainable transnational education, and sharing expertise through academic collaboration will enhance the UK’s global influence.

We’re super proud of St Martin’s School in Caerphilly, winners of Round 1 of our Learning Sectors programme with @F1! Their STEM project with a school in #SouthAfrica saw them solve real-world STEM challenges.

As part of the @BritishCouncil's Learning Sectors supported by Formula 1 programme, a group of 24 teachers and students, made up of two winning teams of UK secondary school students went behind the scenes at the British Grand Prix to experience the joy of F1, learn about motorsport careers and see STEM skills in action.
Learning Sectors started in January 2025 and works with young people aged seven to 16 in 700 schools across Brazil, India, South Africa, and the UK aims to inspire students around the world to get involved in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) subjects.
Students from The Royal School, Wolverhampton and St Martin’s School, Caerphilly were treated to a once in a lifetime experience where they enjoyed fan zone activations and exclusive tours of the Paddock and Event Technical Centre along with a pit lane walk.

Following last night’s attack on Kyiv, our office has been severely damaged and is closed to visitors until further notice. Sadly, one of our guards was injured and is now in hospital. While responses may be delayed, our work with 🇺🇦 partners in education and culture continues.
