I just did the dumbest thing of my career to prove a much more serious point I hacked ChatGPT and Google and made them tell other users I’m really, really good at eating hot dogs People are using this trick on a massive scale to make AI tell you lies. I'll explain how I did it

Here's my full piece about some of the questions raised internally about this story and concerns I heard from some CBS News staffers about it: theguardian.com/media/2026/j… (In an editorial call yesterday, Bari Weiss said the story was a high priority to pursue.)
There was discussion internally at CBS News about the specifics of the officer's injuries and whether more detail could be provided, I am told. "I'm no doctor, but internal bleeding is a very broad term and can range in severity," a CBS News executive said in an internal email. "A bruise is internal bleeding. But it can also be something serious. We do know that the ICE agent walked away from the incident -- we have that on camera."

New: Furloughed Dept. of Education employees discovered their out of office messages were manipulated blaming Democrats for a government shutdown "None of us consented to this. And it’s written in the first-person, as if I’m the one conveying this message, and I’m not. I don’t agree with it. I don’t think it’s ethical or legal. I think it violates the Hatch Act." nbcnews.com/politics/trump-a…

I’m Till Eckert, a ProPublica reporter. For the past 2 weeks, I’ve been going to the same NY immigration courthouse. Nearly every time, I see ICE agents arresting immigrants. Today, a woman was slammed to the ground after begging officials not to take her husband away. Thread👇

Former FBI Director James Comey, for years the target of President Trump’s ire, is expected to be indicted in the coming days in the Eastern District of Virginia, where a prosecutor who opposed bringing the case was recently fired, three sources familiar with the matter told MSNBC. The full extent of the charges being prepared against Comey is unclear, but the sources believe that at least one element of the indictment—if it goes forward--will accuse him of lying to Congress during his testimony on September 30, 2020 about whether he authorized a leak of information. The five year statute of limitations on that charge would lapse on Tuesday. with @CarolLeonnig

Final notes from my reporting in Latino communities during the election: 80% of Latinos are working class. Their experience of the economy the past four years—Covid shutdowns, inflation, gas prices, housing costs—was rough. That puts the incumbent Dems at a disadvantage. 🧵1/9
