Hi world, I'm Vayda. I'm about 2 years old and I'm looking for my forever home. I am currently staying at a partner boarding kennel while I wait for an available foster home. I have been super, super sweet with all the people. I'm such a lovely girl. I previously lived with dogs and would likely do okay with a respectful male pooch. I have been cat tested and I have passed, however I have never lived with a cat before that SCARS knows of. I have not had any accidents. I walk okay on a leash. I'm a little nervous but as I get more confident I am walking better. I would likely do okay with older kids - young ones might be a bit too much for me and my timid nature. If you think I might be a fit, please fill out an application. Apply online at ScarsCare.ca

Introducing Rosebud 🌹 Winter is approaching, and the SCARS team is growing increasingly concerned about the number of severely emaciated animals we are seeing. Animals have arrived to us from all areas of the province, rural and urban, so thin and weak. With cold days ahead, these poor animals in such weakened atate are in desperate need of our love and support. Rosebud is a new arrival to the SCARS family. A senior girl of around 10 years, she is so underweight (only 20 kgs) she is skeletal. There is a long road ahead of her, but safe and snug in her new foster home, she is showing positive signs. Rosebud gained 3 kilograms in 8 days. The dull pain in her eyes is being replaced by something that looks remarkably like hope. Her first vet visit revealed anemia, arthritis, and fractured teeth. Her blood work has some other concerns but could just be an indication of her poor body condition and poor nutrition. Rosebud has a 30 day plan to gain some weight, manage her pain, bring down the inflammation. Currently eating 4 gourmet meals (by any dog's standards) a day and resting in every sunbeam she can find, we find ourselves hopeful. In 30 days with positive results, SCARS will address her teeth. She is not available for adoption at this time, but Rosebud would like to share some of her likes and dislikes. Likes: Steak Roast Ground wildgame and rice, Gravy All of the above should be warmed up, thank you Cesar's Science diet canned dinner entrée Sunbeams Soft beds Super soft fleece blankets Company while I eat Dislikes: Cats - foster mom says I spectacularly failed a very impromptu cat test (while I admit to failing the cat test, I feel she is exaggerating on the spectacular part) Taking my medication - it better be well hidden in Cesar's or I am spitting it out. Please share in my journey to a brighter future. You can help by donating through our Amazon wish list or buying a ticket to one of our raffles, like Chase the Ace. It is with profound sadness that we share that Chance passed from this world. We take comfort in knowing he has received his Angel Wings and no longer feels pain. Chance fought so hard to keep going. Everyone who met him commented on his beautiful loving personality and his resilience. Alas, it was not to be. His veterinary care team did everything they could. In the end, he was too far gone. The long period of starvation had taken a deep toll on his body - his liver was failing, and he suffered a cardiac arrest. Although his care team revived him once, he remained comatose, and we knew we had to let him go. He passed surrounded by loving hearts, those who were with him and all of you, who shared his journey these past few days. Thank you for caring. Thank you for seeing Chance and so many others who need care and love. Thank you for continuing to support SCARS. May we remember Chance with love and carry his memory forward to save others needing our compassion and love. Rest easy, Chance. You were the goodest boy. 🌈🌈🌈 Donations in his memory, please memo Chance: give.scarscare.ca/give

❤️‍🩹 CHANCE UPDATE: Our brave boy made it through surgery! 🐾 After being rushed to Guardian Emergency with a serious intestinal emergency and a foreign body, Chance underwent surgery, and we are so relieved to share that he is doing well post-op! ❤️ His blood pressure is normal, he’s eating small, carefully controlled meals, and the veterinary team is closely monitoring him due to the risk of refeeding syndrome after everything his little body has endured. During surgery, the team discovered a long piece of cloth in his intestines. They were able to remove part of it and are now hoping the remaining material will pass naturally. He’s not out of the woods yet, but this is a HUGE step in the right direction! 🥹 After everything Chance has been through, this sweet boy deserves nothing but warmth, love, full bellies and a beautiful future. A huge thank you to the incredible team at Guardian Emergency and Westlock Vet for caring for our boy around the clock. One day at a time, Chance. You’ve got this! 🐾 Grab a ticket: rafflebox.ca/raffle/scars-ct… Donate: give.scarscare.ca/give ** Please do not apply to foster or adopt Chance at this time **

🍂 Kitty Gala is ready to lay down some roots. 🍂 This beautiful torti has been waiting 240 days (!!) for someone to choose her—and that’s far too long for a girl who deserves a place to call home. 💔 Kitty Gala knows what she likes and isn’t afraid to let you know! She prefers to be the one and only feline in the home and would be happiest in an adult-only home, or a quiet, low-energy home with young adults 16+. She may take a little time to show you her heart, but we believe there is so much more to Kitty Gala waiting to blossom with the right person, the right home, and a little patience. 🌸 This Thanksgiving, while we’re giving thanks for all we have, Kitty Gala is wishing for just one thing: a forever home where she can finally put down her paws and belong.🧡 Check out her profile! adopt.scarscare.ca/view-anim… Second Chance Animal Rescue Society - Alberta

Meet your enthusiastic, treat-loving companion named TWEED! 🐾 This affectionate pup enjoys touch and has lots of potential for learning thanks to their high food motivation. Easily excited and distracted, so they’ll benefit from training to help them settle and take treats gently. He is respectful of leash tension and can do well with other dogs when greetings are appropriate. No cats for me please! With patience, positive reinforcement, and enrichment, this pup is ready to blossom! Apply online at ScarsCare.ca
