This is a really good piece about phonics and children with SEND.
Can we really teach all (and I mean ALL) children to read? Even the ones with severe and complex needs?
I explore this in my blog and reach an uncharacteristically energetic answer!
With thanks to @NancyYoung_ and @SusanGodsland

I used to teach children written methods for calculation and then hope that they would remember every step. Now, I use I See Reasoning prompts like this to get children to analyse specific parts of calculation procedures. More examples: buff.ly/3gJwCcE
