ALT Dr. Chandra received her undergraduate and master’s degrees from India. She earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a specialization in Biochemistry from Purdue University, USA. Dr. Chandra did her postdoctoral training with Dr. Thomas Südhof at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. A member of the faculty of Yale School of Medicine since 2007, Dr. Chandra is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Neurology and Neuroscience. Dr. Chandra’s laboratory explores two inter-related themes –synapse maintenance and neurodegeneration. In particular, the lab investigates Parkinson’s disease genes and risk alleles that encode synaptic proteins and how they impact synaptic structure, function, and neuronal health. The long-term goal of the research in the Chandra lab is to parlay a basic understanding of Parkinson’s disease genes for the development of early disease-modifying therapies.
