Uganda becomes the tournamentโ€™s Official Destination Sponsor, giving the country a major international platform to showcase its wildlife, culture, tourism attractions, hospitality and investment opportunities to millions of people worldwide. The partnership will also use football to: โ€ข Attract more international tourists to Uganda. โ€ข Promote East Africa as a leading tourism destination. โ€ข Create business and investment opportunities. โ€ข Deliver long-term economic benefits beyond football. CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu was present in Kampala for the launch, alongside Ugandan government officials and tourism leaders. Credit to Samson Adamu for his role in driving CAFโ€™s commercial and strategic partnerships, and to CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe for championing the vision of using African football as a platform for economic growth and development. AFCON 2027 must be more than just football. It is an opportunity to showcase Africa to the world! Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are getting ready to welcome the world from 19 June to 17 July 2027. #AFCONwithMicky #PAMOJA2027 #ExploreUganda #AfricanFootball

A country's investment ambitions need financing. Where does the money come from? IMF data for 2016โ€“2025 tell a clear story: ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฒ Zambia: national savings averaged 35.2% of GDP, broadly matching investment at 34.3%. ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ผ Malawi: savings averaged โˆ’4.1%, while investment averaged 9.8%. Malawi's investmentโ€“saving gap means greater reliance on foreign capital โ€” often on terms it cannot control.

Trapped cash: when earning interest means losing money. A multinational's cash may be earning interest in Malawi or Mozambique, yet lose purchasing power to inflation. It cannot fund better opportunities elsewhere. Investing locally may add risk. Locking it into deposits sacrifices liquidity. The challenge is to balance return, liquidity and FX exposure while preserving the option to transfer funds when an opportunity arises. Capital controls don't just trap money. They risk trapping future investment, too.

Malawiโ€™s fuel shortage has brought daily life in the capital Lilongwe to a halt, with motorists waiting up to three days for petrol and some sleeping in their cars to queue for it. Businesses are losing customers as residents struggle to get to work and take children to school.

๐Ÿšง [WATCH] | N2 CORRIDOR CONSTRUCTION The machinery being used to construct the N2 from Ermelo towards the KwaZulu-Natal border represents a new level of road construction technology. Imported from Germany, the specialised machinery has the capacity to lay approximately 350 metres of concrete road per day. The project uses a different approach to road construction, incorporating reinforcement bars and concrete to create a stronger and more durable pavement. The concrete road is designed to provide long-term durability, with an expected lifespan of up to 30 years with minimal maintenance, while being strong enough to withstand the heavy loads carried by freight vehicles along this important corridor. A stronger N2 means safer roads, better freight movement and stronger economic activity. #OctoberTransportMonth #OTMSA2026 #N2Corridor #RoadInfrastructure #MpumalangaAProvinceThatWorksForAll #GovZAUpdatesMP #TheNationThatWorksForAll

Harare "born" today 136 years ago. On 12 September, 1890, British soldiers dispatched from Cape Town arrived at a spot along the Hunyani River in what will be Zimbabwe. They liked the location, raised the British flag, and claimed the territory in the name of the Queen of England, while the Zezuru clan of the Shona people living there wondered what they were doing. The fort they established developed into a town called Salisbury, and then a city, named Harare.
