Here’s the bottom line: Given the history & purpose of police & their staunch opposition to reform, we can’t trust or expect them to address this issue. We need our electeds to act. #PassPrOTECTNow Read @voiceofsandiego’s @willhuntsberry ‘s full article: voiceofsandiego.org/2023/04/…

If anyone wonders why American democracy doesn't seem equitable or representative of society, it's because of our electoral systems are structured in such a way that they often deny voters representation. Change this component of democracy and we'll have a much different future.

How we vote, when we vote, and how we count those votes determines if we have a two-party system or a multi-party democracy. It's critical that we understand electoral systems if we want transformative change in the United States.
Very interesting essay from @chucktodd on the need for more political parties in America. You can be a happy D or R in current system and still believe it would be healthier if parties could more closely represent the many viewpoints in our big country. msnbc.com/msnbc/america-s-tw…

Tell San Diego City Council that we need to end the stops. Sign & share this petition urging the city to pass the Preventing Overpolicing Through Equitable Community Treatment (PrOTECT) ordinance which restricts pretext stops, consent searches and stops for equipment violations.
