Five days before the election, @sdutOpinion offers this strongly-worded call for s reset of the @SDCityCouncil.

Nope.
The regulations imposed as urban growth boundaries are causal.
The YIMBY-driven dense building fetish will never produce housing affordability, and will instead continue to drive land prices up as the supply of buildable urban land evaporates.
YIMBYs are the cause of, not the solution for, the urban housing affordability problem.
The book directly challenges the now-dominant "just build more housing" account of urban housing crises associated with economist Edward Glaeser and the broader YIMBY policy consensus. Condon's counter-argument is that restrictive zoning is not the primary driver of unaffordability, and that density deregulation — upzoning that allows more building on a given parcel — mostly inflates land values rather than lowering housing costs, because the anticipated development rights are quickly capitalized into the price of the underlying land

YIMBYs lie.
YIMBYs want luxury apartments built with tax breaks and public amenities that someone else pays for, built on land taken from working class families through gentrification displacement.
And density makes it all more expensive
There isn’t a single defensible study or analysis that supports the need for 10,000 new apartments, especially on top of Midway Riding (+4250 apts).
We need smarter people in Congress, not parrots.
For years, I’ve said the NAVWAR campus is one of our best opportunities to build housing at scale. A data center does nothing for the neighborhood and takes away land we urgently need for other uses. Our bill will ensure this site can be used for what San Diegans actually need and want. Learn more:

They aren’t affordable, they are rent controlled. Just because you apply a label to something, it doesn’t make it true.
The people who keep San Diego running should be able to afford a home here. With help from our Complete Communities program, @sd_fdn and its partners are bringing 257 affordable homes to North Park and Normal Heights.

YIMBYs NPCs all make the same argument: "Zoning laws are wrong! If I own the land, then I should be able to do whatever I want with it. Property rights!"
Translation: "If I buy land next to your home, it gives me the right to cause infinite harm to you, your family, and your community! Your right to not be harmed does not apply!"
Causing you harm doesn't bother them...not even a little!
Turns out fabricated footnote 15 wasn’t fabricated after all, but Gloria’s faux outrage was fabricated.

“I am disappointed that some are choosing to sink so low, using fraudulent and altered documents, to try and influence the San Diego Mayor’s race. This is journalism and politics at its worst,” said Gloria in a statement timesofsandiego.com/politics…

San Diego: Flooding will get worse.
The city’s response is weak and ineffectual.
Both Thanksgiving and Christmas will be significant coastal flooding events.
You are advised to make your own preparations to protect your family and property.
NOAA tide station observations indicate oceanic Kelvin waves are contributing to new/broken water level records along the California coast, including some of the highest readings in over a century.
San Diego, CA - 2.80 feet above mean higher high water (MHHW) - Station dates back to 1906
La Jolla, CA - 2.65 feet above MHHW - Station dates back to 1924
Los Angeles, CA - 2.70 feet above MHHW - Station dates back to 1923
Santa Barbara, CA - 2.65 feet above MHHW - Station dates back to 1974
These elevated water levels are the result of above-normal tides—caused by the full moon and perigean spring tide (when the Moon is closest to the Earth)—in addition to impacts from El Niño-driven Kelvin waves.
More record-breaking water levels are possible today, with a continued risk of flooding and other coastal hazards.

There will be two countywide measures on the November ballot in #SanDiego, "one proposing county charter reforms, including longer supervisor term limits, and the other a sales tax increase that supporters say is needed to address public health and safety concerns."
nbcsandiego.com/elections/wh…
Both are OPPOSED by SD Taxpayers.
Measure A's defining feature is a weakening of the term limits San Diego County voters approved in 2010: the amendment raises the limit on the Board of Supervisors from two terms to three and applies that increase to the same supervisors who voted to place it on the ballot.
Measure B, the sales tax increase, has no sunset clause, no year-over-year performance targets that would allow citizens to measure and track outcomes and no real oversight over how the additional revenue would be spent.

If you think tides are high in Southern California now, just wait until king tides arrive from November to January.
LA and San Diego just saw their highest tides on record Tuesday, but the Christmas Eve king tide will likely run about half a foot higher, and that's without a storm. Add a storm and water levels could break yesterday's record by 1-2 feet. Then, factor in potentially large surf, and that's why we're very concerned about severe coastal flooding and erosion on California's coast this winter.
The most significant crisis in San Diego is in leadership.
Gloria and the council are failures. Gloria was an inadequate executive before, and now spends even less time doing what we elected him to do. That’s probably a good thing, because all of his decisions have been terrible
Lake Hodges Dam was completed in 1908 at an inflation adjusted cost of approximately $8 million.
The city secured a $240.6 million federal loan under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 and is still unable to replace the dam.
The current #SanDiego mayor and council has completely failed to maintain critical water supply infrastructure.

The problem is not the quantity of housing, it’s affordability.
And YIMBYs are making housing MORE expensive
